Brendy I thought u knew the answer to that. I dont want to name the club but its not far from Lough Neagh.

Update

I have writen a letter to the captain to see if he can do anything but I know the answer to that but its worth a try. The other guy has requested a meeting with the captain to put our sides of the story across.

Does anyone know if a solicitor would be worth a visit?
Whats hurting the most is that she told lies and used another members name to get us bared.

I'm trying to convince myself that the 2 months wont be long going in...........roll on February......

Brendy u could always invite me down to Blackwood for a found in between times...............

"....... used another members name to get us bared."

That sounds like an appropriate punishment.

Blackwood???? would you want to play there?
Im a Bangor GC man, though this week I think its going to be a sit at home and play with my daughters kind of weekend, there has been a lot of rain last night.
Saying that, I noticed last week that our problem areas on the 16th (par5) is being sorted out including a bunker being excavated and thoroughly piped and lined for drainage.

Back on topic, lough neagh you say?? Would I be right in thinking your carpark is split and you arnt a kick in the arse from the A.forum?

After todays weather, no golf for this weekend a least, i'd say 2 months will fly in.
Saying that, if you are not happy there now is the best time of the year to leave and join elsewhere, I just got my renewal letter yesterday but am happy to see it hasnt risen by more than a couple of quid since last year. Roll on march and the start of the year again.

Rum do all round chaps!
Bit harsh though, I suppose that as you are both club officers they decided to throw the proverbial.
Lady C not married or otherwise affiliated to a member of the disciplinary (or the barmaid) by chance?
Does the unwitting witness know his names been taken in vain?
Does this also mean you'll be expunged from the trophy board?

Not sure that your solicitor will be able to help much. In terms of private members club, it is the appication of the club rules that applies as opposed to being a matter of law. Unless there is a claim as to another issue, such as slander or discriminatory practice, then it is generally the case that the clubs ruling will stand. Most club rules that I have seen state that a comittee ruling is final. Sorry to cast a gloomy picture but as a solicitor myself, I know that I would not normally get involved in internal club matters such as this unless there was a claim of illegality rather than just an unfair decision.

I guessed you were a solicitor long before I got to the part where you actually owned up to it. It might be interesting to hear your views regarding such things as outdated golf club rules concerning dress, women paying reduced fees etc.

Tried to reply privately but kept getting an error. In brief though, the problem is that you are trying to apply court standards of evidence to a matter relating to club rules. Unless you wish to show that the actions were malicious, the committee can only go by the evidence that it is given and any claim to the contrary is only ever going one person's word against another. Your solicitor may be able to interpret the club rules in a different way to show that the action taken was outside of powers granted and then you could have an action against the club but, in all honesty, your ban would have passed by the time you got your day in court. Legal matters move slowly and, with the Christmas period as well, you would be unlikely to get any form of result in 2 months. I would also suggest that your club rules will contain a provision to suspend or remove membership at the discretion of the committee. Private members clubs of any sort can do this and it could be applied in any event.

I would suggest that any consultation fee that you are going to pay to a solicitor may be better spent paying the green fees on another course during the period of the ban.

Hope this makes sense. Do not have the full details so do no take this as definitive advice but more of a practical approach based on my legal knowledge
