Today while playing an away match an opposition player knocked his ball in to GUR with drop zones (this was half way up semi rough of the hole) He shouts over to me that he has paced out the distance and he was nearing the one 20 yards nearer the hole that where his ball lay

I shouted back, you can't take a drop nearer the hole surely ?? Then I just walked on, he duly did !

Someone please tell that can't be a correct ruling is it ???

Fair enough chaps and thanks. I was amazed by him striding 20 yards further on  as it happens we won 5&3 so wasn't a major issue I guess.

Them not giving me an 18 inch putt on the 9th really wound me to the point I played the back 9 in one over in to a 2 club wind, that'll teach em :ROFLMAO:

You've never, ever, missed an 18 inch putt then ?
If you have, you'll understand why they asked you to hole it.
If you haven't, it shouldn't bother you.

This was "supposedly" a friendly inter club match, prior to that putt we had given them two approx 3 or 4 footers.

What you had conceded to them previously is irrelevant (and maybe foolish?) and has no bearing on what they decide to concede or not.
Some people are prone to concede putts of a length that they themselves are not comfortable with, in hopes of the opponent reciprocating. Did you make the putt?
