Hi guys,

Just wondering as a topic of conversation; how much do you pay for a token at your local driving range?

I ask only because my local range have recently gone from £2.50 for 50 balls to £3.50 which I think is very steep considering if you're a member of the local club you can get a token to their range for £1.

What do you pay and what do you think is a reasonable price to pay?

I think mine is about 5.50 for 90 balls. Reasonable? Probably not, but it is a good range, clean, tidy, modern, well lit, good mats.

£2 for 45
£3 for 75

Decent range - not that I use it much (I know I should!)

Good value but you do get some half balls sometimes. Also, although there is a sign saying "Only use range balls" I'll always find at least 2 or 3 "real" ones in there.

Just played the Forest of Arden yesterday and it was £1 for 15 balls on the range. Steep definately but if fairness there is a chipping green with loads of free range balls on so you didn't have to use your own or do short chipping practise on the range.

The range close to me is £3.50 for 35 balls and £4.50 for 70.

£5 for 100 hundred balls but you always get at least 120. Also you can buy 1000 (which is more like 1200) at a discounted rate of £40. Heated bays, power tees, floodlights cheap pro shop and grass. The only downside is its 20 mins from my house but I suppose its not that bad.

Chartham Park is a proper grass range, uses Srixon balls and costs £3.50 for 50 balls.

Wellshurst is handy, but not top notch, the balls are chipped one piece tat, and costs £2 for 50 balls.

I might be out by 50p for the price at Chartham - I haven't been working on my swing as much as I should, so I haven't been there recently :o

The range in Inverness is £3 for a token for 50 balls or £1 into a separate machine gets you 14 balls. Good quality range, Wilson balls. No heated bays which I'm sure I'll miss come winter...

The range at my home club in Nairn has only just been built and ball dispensers are on the cards but nto in yet due to money, so at the moment you have to take & collect your own balls. Funnily enough, I tend to go to Inverness instead which is a shame as my course has a very good short game area right next to the new range.

The practice ground is free at my club. Hit as many balls as you have but you do have to go and pick them afterwards (unless you are minted and can afford to leave your practice balls out there each time)

Abbey Hill Milton Keynes is 1.50 for a warm up bucket, 3.60 for about 60 balls and 4.50 for 90 balls, though if you buy a fob up front for ther machine get between 10-20% extra added to account depending on how much you put on it

I wish my club was a little closer to home, at rushhour it'd be at least 45 mins drive away or I can go to the local range in less than 10 minutes. After work when I just want to bash some balls the choice is an easy one to make.

Where are you about mate. you said on J_F's review of my home club (Pumphy) that you were not far from it. Prestonfield would be a bit of a drive at anytime.

What range is now charging £6 for 100 balls? Is it Houston?

I have a range near me that is about £4.40 for a 50 basket. The range is crap, the balls are crap and the matts are almost useless too.

The one further from home (by another 10 miles) is only £2.30 for 50 balls. The balls are better, the matts are better and so is the range!
