Was at the course yesterday and decided to see how much further I hit my 10.5 deg K15 driver than my SLDR 19 deg hybrid.
First par four hit the hybrid as well as I ever will, hit a drive that I certainly would take any day and the hybrid was 5 to 10 yards further. Same make and model of ball.
Tried this out on a few more holes and the driver was never more than 5 yards further then the hybrid, also noticed that the hybrid flies much lower than the driver.
Had already dropped the 3 wood from the bag as noticed at the range that the hybrid out performed it for ease of hitting off the deck and distance.
Why is this , longer shaft , less loft and it goes higher and not as far ? Do you think it is because of the height the driver hits it that I'm losing distance with it?

In summer you have the benefit of roll, lots of it, this will increase the distance your hybrid achieves,
Your driver has a higher flight, so carries further.

Try the same experiment on a cold rainy November day and I suspect the results will be different

From that it would appear that you arent hitting your driver very well - what sort of distances are you getting with both clubs ?

Not necessarily LP, the other week on our last ,I did a 220 yard drive followed by a 235 yard bounding hybrid which went through the green.

I expect this issue to be about carry v run

I do see your point Phil, but I think I'm with LP on this - either not hitting the driver well or it isn't well fit for the swing.

My well hit driver carries 30-40 yards further than my well hit hybrid. So, the hybrid would have to run 30-40 yards just to reach where my drive pitches... which would mean hard ground and would mean I'd expect reasonable roll out from my driver so it should still be a fair amount further.

Not it saying my stats are the same as the OPs, but would assume a 25 yard carry difference minimum. Driver shouldn't be hit on a trajectory where it gets little to no roll - it should have a reasonable angle of descent to maximise the combination of carry and roll.

Hard ground or soft ground, I'd expect more than a few yards difference on well hit shots... hit from the same tee landing on the same fairway.

A well hit driver will still carry and run further than a well hit hybrid

This was me until recently,my 3w was going further than my driver.
It was purely down to bad technique with the driver (and trying to muller every drive)

This touches on something I've wondered about.

Isn't the stated loft on a Driver a bit misleading when you are mainly hitting the ball on the upswing?
I never get as much loft with my Fairway Woods or long Hybrids as I do with my Driver off the tee.

Not everyone hits driver with a positive angle of attack - many people don't.

10.5 is probably launching the ball too high. No run.

Go get fitted and they may well stick you in an 8.5 head to bring that launch down.

You can discuss angles of attack, launch angles, lofts and any other technical elements you wish but I completely agree with Bob!

That there are a huge number of players who simply can't swing a driver well enough to generate the appropriate club head speed, and /don't hit it out the middle and/or end up with significant out/in swing etc etc etc are all examples.of things wrong somewhere.

Massive guesswork, but wonder if OP is hitting a bit steep.
Expecting the sldr hybrid will be a low spin one, and the k15 may be high launch, high spin.
So agreeing with LP & Phil :)

Agree with this but the OP plays off 8 so must have a reasonable swing. The OP sounds like me 5 years ago when I was pretty hopeless with the driver but great with fairways and hybrids. It was all down to poor technique with the driver.
