Hi,

I'm looking at having a driver custom fitting.

When having a custom fit, are only the latest models available for the custom fitting or do fitters offer previous years models for fitting.

Asking because i'm too tight/poor to shell our over £250 for a new driver, however could go to £150 with a trade in if 1 or 2 year old models were available to custom fit.

Appreciate anyone's experience in the models generally available.

Cheers

Phil

If ordering new it is likely you will only be able to have a fitting for current models but there is nothing to stop you getting fitted for a new shaft in your current driver. The shaft is the engine of the club, if you like the head then why not get a more suitable shaft put in it? Have a google search for club fitters in your area, they will be able to sort you out.

Hi drive4show,
I have an old Nike demo square driver which is looking a bit sorry for itself, so would like try something more up to date. I may pick up an adjustable driver such h as taylormade R15 or cobra flyz+ and then get the fitting, as you suggest, to see which Shaft and loft /setting suits me.

Stevew86 I'm near Wigan so there is tourxgolf , Dave Clarkes in Rainford or trufit in Warrington. All seem to only do fittings to latest models.

Cheers

Seems like a sensible plan. Most of the local pros to me with trackman/flightscope offer these sorts of services (along with gapping sessions etc). Of course, because you won't be buying lovely new marked up kit, you have to pay for the session. Would still expect you to come out well ahead though. And at least you won't be subjected to any suggestive sales tactics.

Check out the for sale section

someone was selling an m2 for £220 other week dunno if it sold.. but plenty of other drivers on there

Ian Lee at Haigh Hall fitted my clubs, but I think he only does the latest clubs, maybe nip to American Golf at Trafford, they have a flight scope and a good selection of older clubs in when I was there last week.

Which club are you a member at?

Thanks for suggestions and replies. Cobra fly z and fly z + do seem to get numerous excellent reviews. Will probably go down this route and as pendodave says, I can concentrate on getting a correct fitting rather than paying for a marketing exercise!
Used to be a member at Leigh Golf Club, not currently a member as I don't get out there as much as I'd like and enjoy playing different courses.

Cheers Phil
