Just had a one-night (2 round) visit here and wondered if anyone knows it.

Sunday started very wet and there was casual water but crisp and clear yesterday - greens in good nick. Good views from the front nine and all the trees looking great. We found it pretty hard going (quote from partner - 'there are beaches in Cornwall smaller than these bunkers') and a helluva walk going back and forth over the A34 which does spoil the course in some respects but still v. enjoyable for a short break. But we took 5 hours both days, and I'm not kidding we didn't hang around - we reckoned a good 2 miles walking additional to the course itself.! Also had a weird and wonderful room for the night in the gothic (!) hotel.
Oh and did I mention I won (both days) - though 26 and 27 points not really a score to shout about!

Glad you had a good time, and clearly the course is tough enough for a weekender, but no, never heard of it, and sticking a pin in a map I am as likely to find Atlantis as this golf course.

However, sounds like a nice weekend break. Lucky you.

Interestingly enough, I believe this was built in some land owned by one of my family ancestors....
I've seen it from the road.....
Am I "normal" when I travel around the country and always look longingly at golf courses? especially big and impressive ones!!
Probably a course where I might splash the cash on a buggy!

I think you're completely normal. On holiday on Rhodes, while on an island tour, I spotted a course laid out through olive groves and spent most of the journey working out how you would play out from under the trees and how you would play the tee shots between them.

There certainly could have been a few ghosts in the house
as for buggies - apparently the 'locals' use buggy parks so that you can play one section on foot (and carrying)then take a buggy to the next. We stuck with our trolleys - but my tootsies were complaining by the end.
