Are you a solid, steady, reliable player. Hitting faiways and greens regularly? Rarely in trouble and when you are always play out sideways, take your punishment and take a five? Does your scorecard look something like this? 4 4 3 4 5 4 5 4?
If you are, is this indicitive of your personality? Do you have a safe, reliable, steady job?

Or are wild off the tee, going for the career 3 wood 2nd shot on that long par 5 over water that you manage to hit once every five attempts? Does your score card go something like this?...3 7 2 5 8 3 2 6
If so, you might be self-employed. Bit of a risk taker in life and you carry this on to the golf course with you.

Who knows? I may be spouting a lot of rubbish here.
But maybe not.

Mine is definately number 2 A_F, without a doubt mate.

This probably does reflect in me as a whole in terms of what I do for a living and life in general. Steadiness and routine is boring for me and every risk taken gives a little thrill.

Sometimes going for the safe option isn't an option.

Oh yes, I am self-employed.

I had a sneaking suspicion that you maybe in the 2nd category MWJ. Self employed and all that. Seeing it and going for it without worrying about what may go wrong.

Nice one.

Ah, didn't think of that htl, Perhaps the opposite is true then. Maybe people that are in steady safe jobs use their pent up creativity on the golf course whereas the people who are in ceative, exciting jobs just want as little excitement as possible on the golf course. Mmmmmm :D

A-F I think you've just summed my game up perfectly. As an actor I get my creativity out of my work. On the course I like to be steady, take my punishment and return a good score. However, being an actor asthetics are very important to me, so my swing has to have a beauty to it even though a more functional element might be more constructive.

Not sure where I fit in to this. I have asteady office based job in an NHS trust so mundane but comfortable. I am married (no kids) and so have two incomes although money is still tight (I was out of work for two years so debts mounted etc). We aren't great risk takers and would prefer a quiet secluded beach as opposed to activity holidays

On the course I am focussed it is all about the score and whilst I'd never dream of taking a 230 carry over water to a par 5 I'll always shoot for tight pins and chip and putt aggressively. I will play ahrd (especially in matchplay but won't resort to gamesmanship)

However as a result my card often reads 4,5,5,5,3,5,6,4,5

Steady but with moments of madness reconciled with a touch of birdie brilliance

Being Vice President of the European Credit Division of a Japanese Bank, my job is all about allowance of calculated risk, but all in all could be seen as very steady.

My score card can look something like this.

444555454

or

76982579

My conclusion, I'm just crap at golf!!!!

Not sure this theory has much going for it really. I am a design engineer, and have an analytical job. I suffer from over analysing my swing too, which follows. I also appreciate clubs which are well engineered (hence the Scottys). But.....I am a loony on the golf course, with a crazy sense of optimism that makes me take on shots that Tiger would blanch at. Where is the analysis on that one? Mind you, while taking on the shot, I am still analysing the swing.

My game is the opposite to my job. During the week I am a boring solicitor but at the weekend my scores suffer because any risky shot just has to be tried to see if I can do it (the answer is 'no' normally I cann't)

I have a quite exciting job (Security Manager for Europes largest Designer Outlet) and so my work can be very exciting at times.

On the Course it depends how well am playing as to what type of game i will play, Usually though i am agressive. I am very competitive, even against myself.

My score card usually looks like 5445434674.

during the week I have a boring office job... At the weekend I wear pink trousers, a pink Polo and white belt not to mention the matching pink shoes I parade the course with.

I always say if you get the chance take it.
I dont work but I'm a great beleiver in taking risks. I played golf for 2 years with a guy and I could tell you before we went out what club he would take at every hole. He never changed his shots. He went from playing off 5 up to 11 in 2 years. He has now learnt to change things and he has started to come down again but for the 2 years I played with him he was blaming me for puting him off. He always tried to out drive me.
Our front 9 hole are harder than our back 9, so if we can manage level or close to it on the front we have a good chance on the back. Dosen't always work like that though.

I have a few pointer holes I aim for, 1 over after 5 holes and I'm doing ok. 2 over after 12 and I'm happy enough. Then we have two long par5's in our last 3 holes so we have a chance.

I drive trains for a living so am supposed to have a responsible attitude, the ability to keep calm, stay alert and concentrate for long periods and be focussed and professional at all times.

But on the course I will try the one in ten shot and take risks, also had problems last year keeping composed when it all went wrong on the course.

My game like my life is pretty steady but usually have one clanger mistake on my card each week that results in a 6 at a difficult par4, pretty much in the same way I have a habit of forgetting something in my daily life then the missus giving me a bollocking..

I'm quite the analytical type, probably a bit OCD, so I think my golf reflects that. Repetition and preparation is important to me. Maybe my ex-lawyer head stepping in. Not a risk taker unless my swing is spot on that day.

I have to understand why things happen on the course. On the good side I'm very steady when things are going well but get confused (brain overload and frustration) when they're not.

Typical scorecard would be 1 birdie, 9 pars, 6 bogies, 2 doubles, I suppose.
