does your club have an artisan section?

I seem to remember that Lindrick had an artisans section when i played there a couple of years ago. They had a separate building adjacent to the car park if i remember correctly .

Still has, we were there a couple of weeks ago for the Vulcan AM AM and the Artisan members were out in force as spotters, helpers etc. Lovely guys and nice to talk to.

Yes I was talking and playing with a member at Lindrick in March who mentioned his lad was an artisan member at one time. Said member was bending my ear about joining there. But let's just say it was not for me, but it is a gorgeous course.

I am a member of an artisan club, it works well for me.

We are a club in our own right with our own comps and rules.

We pay a significantly less membership than the members of the main club and work approx 22 hours a year replacing divots.

Also we have lots of matches against other artisan clubs which allows us to play nice courses for free.

It's a throwback to the old days when golf was an expensive elite sport. The common man couldn't afford to join a club in those days so artisan sections were formed whereby the members had reduced fees and reduced access to the course but in return they committed to spending a set number of hours/days a year helping out with work on the course. This would typically be things like filling in divots or basic grass cutting etc.

We've got one and this ^^^ is a good description of what it's members do in return.

This seems to be a nice little benefit. I was chatting to a mate the other day who is an artisan at SILH's place and he mentioned playing sunningdale for something like an £8 match fee

We play Sunningdale home and away each year, round of golf on a great course followed by a 2 course meal all for nothing, whats not to like.
