Does practice make you better or worse?

I do the working through the bag from wedge up thing but I always hit driver as my first shot and try and play it as straight as I can, not looking for length. Then it's back in the bag and out with the wedge.

This is just to replicate a round at my course where there are no pactice facilities so no warm up, I like to feel the pressure of hitting that opening tee shot. The first hole is 580 yards so to get on in three it has to be driver off the tee.

Very rarely pull out the driver at the range, all prefer just trying for consistency with the irons, probably why my driving is the worst part off my game.

If I ever use the driving range I prefer to whack the crap out of my driver - that's what it's there for. Can't take a divot out of a mat so would rather practice irons on a proper practice ground.

If I have to warm up before a round then it's just that - a warm up and I never take the shots too seriously.

Favourite warm up is 5-wood 50yds x2, then 60x2, then 70x2 etc etc until it's a full blown swing

I regularly hit at the range on the way back from work.

If I only have time for 50 I usually warm up with a few half shots then work from my 9i down about 3 balls each club up to and including a few drives. At that point it will be wedges to different flags - from 40 - 80 yards out trying to visualise the distance and back swing required to knock it dead on the flag distance.

Every shot I work on alignment and keeping the swing as smooth as possible.

If I have time for a bucket of 100 it will be the same warm up routine then more focused on a particular club. I am trying to think about shots that I regularly play on the course (eg first tee is a good 4i as a driver or even 3 wood could leave you in a ditch, same club from a couple of others. I hit a lot of 8irons on the course to about 150 yards so tend to have this out at the range a lot aiming at different flags to try and hit them all) I will practice with that club so next time I am on the course I am feeling a bit more confident when going for that shot.

Of course if I have been struggling with a club in particular that will get a lot of attention also.

Well..went to the range last night brimming with confidence...worked through the plan only to find that I seem to have my pull-fade back, meaning I'm most likely coming outside in again (and probably throwing over the top again :() despite having not hit a pull fade for months and concentrating on coming more from the inside to out (to straighten my plane) :(

I don't think the howling left-to-right wind helped and probably made it look worse than it was, but lets just say...I'm not looking forward to saturday's round as much as I was yesterday morning. Stupid game

SHW reckons you sent it to him.

I hope you didn't make an illegal copy before you sent it! :p

No, he has my push fade, no illegal copies for me! My "new" flight starts left and bananas back. Generally ends up in the right area, but looks horrible and tells me that I'm coming out-to-in, aka my worst nightmare!
