Does know one carry there golf bag anymore

I really do not understand the constant debate about trolleys, if you want to carry fine..... your choice, if you want to use a trolley fine!
I use a trolley, simply because I prefer to!!!!!!

I have both an electric trolley (PK Classic) and my carry bag and, to be honest, I prefer to carry.

As I've said on previos threads, my local course is quite small so carying isn't an issue for me. I haven't used my PK since Christmas and can honestly say I dont miss it.

I wish I could still carry, but sadly my left knee is too far gone to allow it. That said, I am going to get one of the super-light carry bags this year to take out for a quick 9 or for heading up the practice area. I will see how that goes but should I get any knee pain I will get rid (of the bag, not my knee ;))

It is each to their own and being a small lightweight no way could I carry my bag for 18 holes - it's bigger than I am! Having said that whenever I see a woman carrying I think "she can play" even before I see her swing!

What bugs me is people carrying their bags onto/across the greens

There is nothing wrong with carrying bags anywhere on the course. It speeds up play and makes no markings anywhere.
I carry regardless of how many holes I play, can you imagine Old Tom Morris with his remote control CaddyWizz 2000 storming up the links? :)

why is this so? this is the only advantage i can see to carrying as opposed to a trolly

I disagree.

I can't abide seeing people walking over greens carrying there gear. It takes a few extra seconds to walk around the green and be on your way to the next tee/your tee shot.

I carry and leave my bag in the side of the green I'll be exiting to go to the next tee.

Surely that's not too difficult a thing to do...... Is it?

I'd just welcome quicker play, if that meant someone walking across the green carrying their gear if it was the most direct route, no problemo.

Don't know what SnapHW, Just does.

Doesn't seem right lugging a bag across a green that other groups are yet to putt on.

Just doesn't seem right to me.

Gareth, what is the difference between you carrying your bag and someone 6'6" weighing 25 stone and no bag? is he not allowed on the green?
There is no damage done, grass rebounds within seconds so it isnt a problem at all, people have to walk on the greens so whether its 7 stone or 17 stone, it makes no difference.

My point about the carry bag crew. THey pick up their clubs and walk wherever they want to on the course. The more the greens are walked on the more wear is caused to them. Also add to the fact that extra weight that you bag creates it will cause even more damage.

I have a Motocaddy even though I am in good shape and only 35. But then again, without it I would not be able to play now. If you want to carry then carry. If you want to spend £400 on an electric trolley then do it. Who does it really hurt? There are good and bad points in using both methods, for example:

Carry bags can cause damage to your back, makes players walk wherever they want taking short cuts across greens and up the side of tee boxes.

Trolleys can make muddy tracks along the course when it is wet, also it takes a little bit longer to get round as you do not cut across greens and up the side of tee boxes.

 walking across a green to the next tee or to get your ball while carrying a bag bugs you?

Some people must play on really soft greens

If dual strap golf bags damage your back, I hope you parents don't let your kids go to school with rucksacks on their backs full of books.

trollys are more likely to wreak around the outside of greens due to the shear number of them taking the same route to the next tee every time. this is evident in winter by the - trollys this way signs near greens!

This. Very much this. I really don't get what people are getting at here

Like I said. It's just something that grates on me.

If it's ok to walk across a green with your bag, why do caddies not do it in televised competitions. Players bags are left to the side of the green and carried around it when the hole is finished.

Is there a reason they don't walk across greens carrying their employers equipment?

As I've said, I don't know why it bugs me so much, it just does

I prefer to carry. It is quicker, which then gives me more time to check out my putt, whilst trolley users are parking up. Hopefully will get my putting average below 40 per round shortly.:mmm: I don't carry across a green, just on the basis of reducing traffic.
