One of the reasons i play golf is to loose weight. So needless to say, i carry my bag. Today on Craigmillar Park know one was carrying there clubs. Whats the crack, am i missing something.

Nah, all the young low handicapers around my way do it. also you have to have the alignment sticks hanging out to complete the look.

I guess that most people play golf for leisure rather than seeing it as a way of losing weight - indeed any benefit of the walking is promptly lost with a post game beer anyway. it is proven that carrying increases the risk of back problems so most chose to push to make life easier.

young and on the way to single figures.

im just pointing out what ALL the young low guys do round my way. i dont think they need to carry the sticks all the time. leave them for the range. i just think they are kind of an accessory on the course.

My problem was that I used to forget my sticks for the range!! So I just leave them in my bag. By chance do you know Mark McKeone?

yeah i do. aint seen him in a wee while. good wee golfer. coming on well last time i seen him! his wee buddies never leave the place.

Yeah he is determined to get down to scratch, but since then he has found women!! So I guess it's all downhill from here!!

solid wee swing on him. he'll go low! ill tell him i was chattin to you on here when i see him. im playing strabane tomoro with my bro and nephew. hope the weather is half decent as its my first run down there this year!

Well it isn't given good down here but the weather has been so topsy-turvy around here recently. I'd bring rainwear just incase

Sorry, but...

I used to carry but my back gave out on me last year. I bought a push trolley before being offered an electric trolley at a price I couldn't resist.

I mainly carry. I have a leccy for when I play 36, or in a medal, but I carry for social golf.

I also have the sticks poking out. Not for the look, and they rarely get used for their intended purpose, but as somewhere useful to park my glove and my head cover. One day all bags will be made with sticks poking out. It's so useful.

I always used to carry and still do at times but after trying a push trolley last year I found it so much easier especially in comps. Leccy one is top of wants lust now.

I have sticks too much easier than laying clubs down to check alignment.

Used to carry, and prefer it, but haven't in 7 years. If I had to carry, I wouldn't be able to play - old age and bits falling off

it is proven that carrying increases the risk of back problems .

I'd like to see that proof.

I would have thought it was fairly certain that carrying a bag of clubs has to to be worse for your back than not carrying a bag of clubs - even if using a dual strap that's perfectly fitted, the sheer extra weight on your back must be more detrimental than not having anything there at all....
There's also the fatigue issue - again, if you're carrying a bag of clubs it has to take more out of you than walking without them on your back.

I carry in the Winter as we have a "Hedgehog" rule for trolleys and I don't like them! But once the ban is lifted - out come the trolley
