I'm after some opinions please.
I bought a TM R7 CGB Max 3 wood with a reg flex, mitsubishi rayon, re-ax - 45 superfast shaft. I bought the club 2nd hand which is shown in the head cover (a few scuff marks). The club has all the identity marks of an original TM club and shows nothing to make me think otherwise. I got the club off ebay at the end of Jan but i only used it yesterday for the 1st time at the range. It weighs a tonne, I can't use it, it far too heavy, it feels like an old wooden club. The weights in the back are standard weights but the club weighs 362 gramms. The thing is, my dad has the same club and I've weighed his and it's only 305 grammes and I can use it fine'ish

Do you recon I've been done? or does anyone have any explanation?

ive got the same club and it weighs 308 approx.
does your club have three big holes in it? if so i can confirm its a brick :D sorry but it may be a fake. have you weighed the weights seperatly?

See my post about the Yes putter.

Yes and TaylorMade are the two most copied clubs on the fake market! Be aware of what you buy and from where!

I'm sorry I know a lot of you get some good deals of e-bay and many have preferred suppliers but I want to try a club before I buy it. Even if I'm going for a 2nd hand one I'd rather sue one from the 2nd hand barrel at the range, in the pro shop or even in the 2nd's pile at AG I'd want to hit some balls and feel the club on the ball rather than just buy because its cheap

When I first started I bought some stuff off ebay as I didnt know better, I am sure there are a lot of reputable sellers, but there are now a lot of dodgepots too!!
I agree with Homer, I like to get a swing with a club before I part with me pocket money..

Is there a serial number? I think you can check on the tm site or contact them and ask?

Homer the trick is to try club out at AG or where ever and then look for a seller with 100% feedback after 100 sales then if you can get it cheap your onto a winner. You do have to look out for fakes though you just have to be very aware.

The problem with that is that there is value in trying a club.

If you are not willing to pay even a small premium for that value, in the long term it won't pay to offer the service, and it will be withdrawn.

Then eventually you'll have to buy without trying.

I'm always willing to pay an extra few quid to get it from a local pro - I'll compare t'internet prices to make sure I'm not getting burned, but then I also have someone I can talk to if I can't get on with the damned thing.

I think you have 90 days to report it to papal (providing you paid via paypal), go and compare in a pro shop ask the pro etc, but if it is fake you should be entitled to a refund, Papal seem to pretty weighted behind the buyer in this kind of situation.

I assume you compared your club with that of your dads and found the only difference to be in the weights. Are both shafts and grips the same. Are club lengths the same.

The reason I ask is that a lot of players add weight to their clubs in the form of lead plugs inserted into bottom of shaft during reshafting, or by using lead tape under the grip for butt end weighting.

Usually you can tell the fakes when side by side with an original. signs to look for are:- differing colour shade on clubhead markings. rougher egdges at head-face-sole joins
slight differences in decals etc.

As I posted earlier, does it have a serial number as all Yes putters do(screaming my head off here)

wrong thread :o

I think the first thing you should do is contact the seller. He may be oblivious and happy to refund you. Not all sellers are con-men. Failing that, report him to eBay and contact PayPal.

It doesn;t look like a fake, it;s got serial numbers and looks identical to my dads. It's a different shaft to my dads so maybe the comment about the lead weights at the bottom of the shaft could be the answer as the extra weigh does feel like it's in the head.

Any internal weighting and a heavier shaft could be the difference???

I've gone to lighter driver shafts recently and when i pick up one of my older drivers you can really feel the difference!
