Do you practice constructively?

Nope, never practice, just a warm up before the game on the day, chipping and putting and a few stretches, that sort of thing.
Had one of my best rounds of the year at a course I`d never played before, Vale Royal Abbey near Winsford, last Friday, fantastic greens(the Pro said the Head Greenkeeper had them running at around 10 on the stimp in the middle of December ffs and he gets them to around 13-14 in the Summer!)
Full handicap Stableford, Winter rules, scored 41 points with a blob on the 1st! 19 out, 22 back and that included two 1 pointers on 16 and 17. Very pleased with how I hit the ball.
The course was in such good condition, the organiser has booked it again next year at the same time.

What's your handicap?

Because when describing a round with blobs & 1 pointers and yet still achieving a very decent -5 score it gives a better indication of the achievement when knowing the handicap IMO, I can relate to that kind of round and scoring but I have many more shots to pull the poor holes back.

1 blob, 2 one pointers. The rest were mainly 2 and 3 pointers with a 4 pointer on the last to round out a VERY satisfying game of Golf, on greens that were fabulous to putt on.

I remember when I was pretty much a range only golfer, was so for just over a year.

I went every other weekend (living 200 miles from wife if you remember) and I would hit balls, have breakfast or lunch depending when I went. I would also go many evenings too.

I played the odd round that year, I practice hard and constructively, had lessons but also did have a lot of fun.

Culminated in the winning of my only ever golf trophy, a scratch cup :D

I would do it all again, I love range golf, as a nomad I spend a lot of time there. Not been much since we had the boy but heading back now I have planned a round in January!

I miss the place, sadly my new one does not have a chef like the other one did.

Stick in a decent kitchen and you can spend a whole day at a range!

There's a great place called Pachesham. A nine hole course with a club attached but a fantastic range and short game area. It's about an hour away so not an easy option but they do a killer sausage and onion baguette and worth the trip every now and then to get the short game in shape
