When we was due the last lot of snow every weather report was different, but the only one that stayed right was BBC weather online. The forecast the snow at 12am, ok they were 2 hours early but 2am and down it come.

After our splattering last night ive checked to see what the crack is again:

Ipod Weather - Snow Saturday Monday & Wednesday
BBC Weather - Light snow tuesday
Capital Radio - Snow saturday and sunday.

If they all get their information from the met office, how is it from 3 different sources you get 3 different versions non of which have anything in common.

No wonder the country is a bloody shambles, what makes me chuckle is come forumla 1 season, they can predict rain within the minute!

Metcheck and met office both said it would snow last night, and sporadic today, so far they havent disappointed, 6 inches plus in places here. Roads are a mess and yet I cant wait to get back into the car at lunchtime :D

You gullible fool - they all get it from different people, you know, seaweed out of the window, lick the end of their finger to test wind direction, red sky at night and all the other ways of guessing the weather!

The new Met office computer is only an Ipad so that they can spend the day on www.golf-monthly.co.uk

Hi guys!!!!

I've got 6 or 7 different weather maps available - what do you know - all different in one way or another.

The best (not necessarily most accurate) forecast is Metcheck - cold and clear all today and up to midday tomorrow, worst is Sky - heavy snow all today and all weekend across the region (as I look out of my office into a clear blue sky!). BBC is hedging it's bets in ablout the middle of the pack

No snow forecast here by anyone today.

About 11.30 we had an inch drop in 20 minutes.
Ok not much compared to Ooop North but the chaos it caused was alarming. All, and I mean all, roads came to a standstill. Gridlock everywhere. Took me an hour to get 3 miles across town.

Amazing how such disruption can be caused by an inch of snow.....

....shakes head.....

Whats funny is a courier turned up at work half way through (so wel'll say about an inch has fallen)

" ere charlies whats it like on the roads "

" total chaos, if it falls any more im going back to the depo"

and they wonder why they have a backlog of parcels... lazy sods!

Yep, bbc weather forecast a big bright ball of sun with blue skies. About 11:15 sky was grey and bleak and started snowing like crazy. same, had about an inch of snow in half hour or so. Went out about 1pm, the sky was indeed blue with bright sunshine, but the roads were like a skating rink, car had to crawl very slowly for fear of sliding. Went to the east side of MK (about 7 miles), they've barely had any snow......

Similar here in WOkingham, had to fight through an Alpine blizzard in Sainsbury's car park, and traffic all around starting to grid lock.
Phone my wife up and tell her to think about coming home from work, remembering this weekend last year, and since then the rest of the afternoon has been blue sky ??????

just ran out to the post office about 10 mins back. Temperature down to -4, the main road was sheet ice, watched a 4X4 do a 360+ spin.......just glad I was 100 yds or so away when it happened.

To make your own judgements on a short term basis try this link to the rainfall radar map. It shows you what is happening, not what might happen.
It is part of the Met Office site but I wouldn't rely on their predictions on forecast pages as often its different to what you can see on this map. :D
I've often used it just before i've gone to play to see if the rain is clearing or on the way in and been about 90% right ;)
