Yo! Don't like my 3 hybrid, but really starting to like my 3 wood.

is there any point in ditching the hybrid for a 5 wood?

whats the difference?

Is the 5 wood easier to hit?

thanks!

Love my 5 wood, don't know that it's any easier to hit than a hybrid, just different.

My guess, though, is that you would hit it lower and further than a 3 hybrid.....

It's really a case of what works for you.

Not all 5 woods are the same, but as a generality, it's about the easiest club to deliver some distance for most golfers.

I have one in the bag at the moment and am really enjoying it - then again I have a couple of 3 rescues that I also enjoy using ...

What works for you is the right answer for you

What is it about the hybrid you dislike ?

I have several in the shed , just can't gel with them,

Also have several 5 woods which are really easy to hit, but go to high for my liking,

they are in the shed too :D

If it's high & soft you need i may have just the bat (s)

Not far from you so we could meet if req.

I used to have 2 hybrids in the bag but leave them in the garage now since I bought a 5 wood. They were costing me too many shots by going left too many times whereas the 5 wood seems to stay on the fairway. I also took the 3 wood out now as well as it wasn't going much further than the 5.

Personally I have a 3 and 5 wood and a hybrid as per my signature. It gives me a variety of options but they do take some work to master, especially off the ground. I tend to feel as though I'm sweeping the ball away more than an iron where you try to hit ball and then turf

I'm liking my 3/18* rescue at the moment, absolutely hammering it in-fact as I am my 3 wood it's the driver that's in the sin-bin at the moment, but off the back of this thread I might take a "demo 5 wood" out for a spin next time I'm out on the course, should be interesting to see what the difference is !...

Hey there what I would do is find out how far I hit the hybrid, Them test a few woods maybe a 5 or even 7 wood get something goes the same distance and hopefully one you feel better to use.

Maybe you hybrid just isn't suited. There are many styles of hybrids, small mini 5w style, half a 5w style then the clumpy iron style

Best off going to your local range with a shop and demo'in a few different styles of hybrids and also 5w to see which suits you best.

I used to love a 5w but since finding an Adams I really liked have dropped them in favour of a 17*/19* combo to bridge the gap between 3w and 5i

Thanks everyone. I just look at the hybrid and think it looks too small to hit the ball a long way! Love the feel of hitting the 3 wood, and can hit a good straight shot when I need to (most times!) and can play a long fade as well.

I think i'll get a 5 wood. I haven't spent any money in equipment or clothing this week, so am a bit overdue.......

Surely it's what works for you? 100 people could say they prefer the hybridity that dosent mean it will work for you and go and buy one. Perhaps try a few at a range?

For me the hybrid is more versatile.I have a 15 degree one which is great, but what works for me may not work for you. Try both on the range get yardages, dispersion and go with with what you like.

5W is one of the best clubs to have in the bag as an amateur. Most pros don't have one because of their ability with long irons or a hybrid, but we are not pros.
