Division by reference to course handicap or playing handicap?

Hi,

In yesterday's comp. my WHS index was 5.4 and my playing handicap was 6.

My round has been published amongs the division 2 players on IG, but I thought it would be amongst division 1 players. This has cost me a category prize :'(

The only way I can make sense of this is if divisions are determined by reference to playing handicap, not WHS index, but my understanding was that the opposite was the case.

Can anyone enlighten me please?

Think it is up to the committee and can alter depending on how many players in each division for each competition.

That said, you would be in Div 1 for just about every competition at my place.

As Neil says, it is for the committee to determine how divisions are split, and this should be detailed in the Terms of Competition.

Some software facilitates splits based on Handicap Index, Course Handicap or Playing Handicap.
However, IG does not and only facilitates division splits by Playing Handicap.
