Dissapointed with Taylormade

It looks to me like you overpaid for the ex demo club then if £70 takes you over the price of the 2017 model. Scottsdale golf had them for new for £89 the other day. I think they've only got the ladies head now though. Even brand new in American Golf the difference is £50 between the 2026 and 2017 model

I'm amazed that your pro couldn't do something to help you out, especially as it looks like he over charged you in the first place

I know Taylormade are known for releasing lots of clubs each year, but already releasing the 2026 model is just madness!

:p

I think I would be more annoy with not have a club to play with for 4 weeks and perhaps ask the pro if he has a club you can borrow.

Everything else I can understand, they are replacing like with like and no issues on that front. Why should you get a free upgrade to the 2017 version.

Either ask for a refund or sit it out really. Think I would be tempted to see what asking for a refund gets as a reply, as would hate to be without a club I use a lot for 4 weeks.

My first port of call would be to get onto Taylor Made customer services and politely explain that, leaving you without a club for 4 weeks is not an option and that it is unfair to charge for the replacement head if they upgrade you. Point out Ping etc service and that you would have thought, given that they are one of the top manufacturers, they would equal or better this service.

If that fails embarrass them into it on Twitter and Facebook.

Sometimes in life if you don't ask you don't get.

I could understand that stance if he had bought the latest model at the time then they brought a new model out, but he's openly admitted buying an ex demo model instead of the latest one as it was cheaper. It must be in your mind that if something goes wrong then it could take them a bit longer to hold of a replacement as it wouldn't necessarily be kept as stock. I know TM get a lot of bad press on forums like this, but in this case I think they are doing what they can.

I think his his issues should really be directed at the pro he bought the club from. It sounds like he was over charged for the initial club with it being an older model as well as an ex demo.

It aint TMs problem, the OPs contractual relationship is with the Pro. The Pro is the business responsible for solving the issue. It is the down to the Pro to keep the OP happy.

I would find it surprising if TM didn't simply replacement a new club. Are they still making the original M series heads? I doubt it..
A fairly new club has failed it's life expectancy test - if it's no longer a current club then supply a new one.
Unless there are thousands that are cracking it isn't going to cost TM a lot of money but will be worthwhile in customer Kudos..
I know other manufacturers have replaced failed clubs with the new version... Odyssey and their putters as recently reported on here is an example.
Yes, it is down to the Pro to sort it but he has a contract with TM so ultimately it is TMs problem....
The fact that the club is ex demo is irrelevant to the issue of the club head cracking..It's a recent club and it shouldn't be cracking after a few months.

They've offered a like for like replacement, they just have to source it.

I had had the same thing when my old Callaway XR driver split. The XR16 had come out and they weren't making the old XR, it took a couple of weeks but they replaced it with the same rather than a newer model.

I agree with a lot of what is being said here however with regards to the comments around them not making the heads anymore, I dont understand why they would offer a 2 year warranty on a club but not have replacement heads ready to be shipped. Im not talking about 10k of them sat on shelves here but surely a common sense approach would be to have a number of them ready to replace.

I purchased the club a couple of days after the launch of the 2017 model.

As for overpaying for the Ex Demo - possibly however it seemed like a good deal at the time and I honestly trust the pro involved. When I say I will overpay if I combined both fees im not talking a £50/£60 however I would be overpaying and it seems unreasonable to me. The pro himself has offered me another club for a loan, however I turned it down on the basis of what happens if I sky it etc? Not that I normally do but I dont feel as though I would commit to shots with this in the back of my mind, I never "have a go" of other peoples woods/drivers for that reason.

I would just take the loan club but ask if he can tape the top to protect it if you're concerned about that. I'm sure he will understand the reasoning behind it.

Im struggling to see what it is that Taylor Made have done wrong for you to be disappointed with ?

You bought an "ExDemo" club at i guess a good deal cheap than a brand new one - and it was also the previous years model.

So the first thing how many times was it hit as a Demo ? How long had it been with the Pro ?

So TM have given you two very fair options neither i see as insulting - they have offered to replace the head free of charge im guessing but it will take a little bit to source one from the US im guessing. Or you can the new model at im guessing the appropiate price that its selling for or is that the price quoted by your pro ?

The price is determined by our pro though at the end of the day - an example for you - i sent back two pairs of FJ DJ Casuals - they couldnt be replaced or fixed but was given a credit note for the price of them - i then ordered the new ones - Pro SL - took a while to arrive when they did even though they were more expensive on the shelf the Pro let me have them at the exact price of my Credit Note.

So ultimately it seems to me that TM havent done anything wrong

Received an Email this morning from the Pro stating TM were upgrading me to the 2017 model free of charge and it should be there early next week.

Fair play to them as I had resigned myself to waiting the 4 weeks.

Very happy customer:thup:

sometimes it pays to kick off, ave said it before. be quick to moan and tell folk you are not happy, but be just as quick to praise folk. I would be telling said pro to pass on my sincere gratitude to TM and the " happy outcome " has been mentioned on here for all the world to see 👍

Totally right. Easy to to be critical but when you get what you want you do need to make sure the company get the positive feedback as well
