Has anyone tried/bought any DTC clubs? Loads out there now like Takomo, Vice, Caley, Haitch etc. I've been tempted especially by Takomo but even though I know my specs clubs can feel very different even with the same shafts.

I've used Sub70 irons and currently have a brand called Eleven hybrid 8-9-pw. I've converted several people over to the Eleven "irons/hybrids". I'm very interest in the Takomo irons and I might just take a gamble and order 7-pw. I'm at the point where I don't want to spend twice as much for the big name brands when these cheaper clubs work 99.9% as well.

I'm sure Takomo are
4--pw sets only
(Or heads)

My eleven clubs are working well for me I’ve just got the 7 and pw a few weeks ago as well as 6 and 8 👍

I think Takomo let you order and try the 7i and if you're not happy with them you can send them back for a refund.

I bought Caley heads only for about £250 iirc. Popped some shafts in them and they are decent enough for a weekend warrior like me.

Feel just as good as my Ping 525s, only minor issue was they go too far sometimes. Carrying 150 with the 8 where my 525 is about 150 total.

Different shafts in them so could well be that. But for vfm, they are decent like.

I play Ben Hogan irons and really like them. As you all probably know Hogan Golf was started by the man himself. It's been bought and sold many times since Mr. Hogan passed. Just when I thought it was gone forever, it rose like the Phoenix as a DTC company. They still make great equipment and are reasonably priced. I've played Ben Hogan for decades and still have the forged blades I bought back in the early 80s. I now play the more forgiving Edge EX irons. If you're in the market for new clubs, maybe take a look at the Ben Hogan Company.

very Hogan I've hit has felt lovely, then they go bust, disappear for a few years and then come back. I still rue picking Ping 13s when I was 16 (which were lovely clubs) instead of the Hogans that felt beautiful off the face. But 16 year old me wanted the brand name

I was looking at them this morning.
Running between £700-1000 for a set of irons I'd say they're pretty expensive for DTC.

not a full set, but I may go for smithworks for some new wedges, reviews are very good
Have you ever tried the illegal wedges from them? Intrigued to know how much extra you get from them.

One of our delivery drivers used to do the collections from them, it's part of a different route now. They certainly used to sell a lot of wedges, I could see them in the van every day 😄

I love my Sub70's

Had a comprehensive fitting (although you need to trail to Hereford or Glasgow)

Single brand but lots of options from GI to cavity backs, muscle backs and blades.

Unfortunately prices are creeping up and the differential with the leading brands is not as wide as it was.
