I have a set of Wilson Staff FG tour clubs that I have not been getting on with very well. I went and had a custom fitting session with my pro to look at getting a new set of PING G20s.

I then go out last night and shoot the best round for ages 41 points!!

should I still change my clubs or shall I tell the pro to hold off on the order??

change the clubs. You might have got 42 points with the new ones
;)

It's the wilsons making a last ditch effort to stay in the bag! You must of been struggling to decide on new shineys or just fancied a change I say go with new irons and the extra confidence they will bring after the custom fit.

cheers guys, I have been playing like a Muppet for 6 months since buying the Wilson's I'm also concerned that the G20s wont be the right club for the day I get to single figures, do you know if you can shape the G20s?

I would go ahead and order the new clubs but when they arrive, make sure that they can see the Wilson's in the corner. That way they will know what will happen to them if thery don't perform

;)

I'm kind of in the same boat. Decided to treat myself to new irons as I am using some Wilson LT1200 from the 80's. Then recently been playing the best golf of my life. Can't decide what to do now.

You can shape a shot with any set of irons tbh, although my preference is to just hit it straight.

Generally GI, clubs are easier to draw than fade the ball. As most people that buy them are fighting a slice. Should you change your clubs! Thats something only you can answer. But don't think you will be happy until you do. Considering how far down the road you have gone, to get some.

Keep the Wilsons, the Ping will not make you play better, they are just clubs... and they are fugly!

That's one big change in club style isn't it? From a pretty unforgiving blade to an ultra forgiving cavity back.

Did you have a go with the i20s at the fitting? If you did, and you are happy with the way you were hitting the ball with the G20s I still go for them. If you are having second thoughts it may be wise to have another quick session with the G20s and make sure they are right for you.

I have heard that the FG irons are not the easiest irons to hit, if you are hitting them well keep tham

Do no buy the fat ugly pings as i think you may feel different after a few games

I would have the Ci19 or Ci11 over the Ping any day !

Well I was coming from a point of shifting the wilsons ;). I suppose it all comes down to your preference and how confident you will be if you changed.
