I have a nice new shiny Ping i15 driver, it's only 3 days old (I saw it made in the factory) and it's in the wrapper waiting for someone to give it a spank. They retail at £240 and I can't decide whether to use it or sell it.

I just played 4 rounds at Forest Pines (a very, very tight tree lined course) and finished with the same ball I started with which means that my current driver is working well enough to stick with.

The dilemma is - what would I get for the i15 if..

a) I sell it in the wrapper
b) Use it for a few rounds
c) Use it for lots of rounds and risk it looking a bit shabby

...or should I not be worrying about any monetary value and just use it and see how I get on?

JustOne - it depends how old you are.

Over 70 - get it out the wrapper!

Under 70 - get rid of the SAGA sponsored, whippy flexed walking stick! :D

Priceless!!!!!! :D :D :D
Did it come with a complimentary bus pass J?

Seriously though.....Could you trade it for something you really need?

It's a lovely new shiny golf club, it's crying out to be hit. I don't think a few shots out of the sweet spot will depreciate it's value too much will it. It would probably make £150 if you stuck it on ebay as it is, £130 if you try it out and sell later as used, or £100 in 6 months time.
Give it a whack, you tight wad. :p

Trade it in and get some decent irons with some feel in them, something like Mizuno MP58 with project X 6.0 shafts. If only you knew a good looking Welsh man who was flogging some soon.........

Are you and Homer sharing clubs now as well as.........

Leave it AW, leave it......... ;)

I think that you should auction it on here for charity. Full price goes to cancer research. If your that ungreatful to Ping & GM then I think it's only fair that a worthwhile charity benefits.

If the driver in question was obtained as the result of a fortunate encounter with GM and Ping then I think it's a bit crass posting on here asking if you should sell it.

If it was fitted for your swing, then I think your duty bound to try it and possibly even give a bit of feedback in the Review Section at a later date.

Maybe Ping will think twice before entering into such a collaboration next time if they see this sort of thing going on ;)

I've got one and its the best driver i've had ( have had a few ) to sell it is a bit cheeky imo as Crawford said put it up for auction for charity i'm sure the Ronald McDonald House in Glasgow which is attached to Yorkhills Sick Kids Hospital would love that as i've spent nearly 2 weeks staying there.

Wrong side of the bed Crawford?

I'm not ungrateful, I had a great time with the Ping guys both at the Walton Heath meet and at the fitting center, it couldn't have been two better days spent with nicer people but that doesn't mean that I need/want a new driver. I love my putter and wouldn't want a shiny new Scotty Cameron putter to replace it, even if it was part of a prize and custom fit, I feel likewise about my driver. I did ask the Ping guys if they could fit me for a 3-wood instead but they said not.

The i15 performed well at the fitting (12-15yds more carry apparently) but I'm not really interested in hitting the ball any further than I already do, with my unreliable swing it's forgiveness that I'd prefer and playing round Forest Pines made me think that my driver ain't too bad. I might unwrap it and see how it goes on the course, I guess it could sit in the shed for if/when my driver gets put on the naughty step... like I said, it's a dilemma.

I'll second that....or even the golf foundation.

I bet the 100's of people who applied for this freebee are chuffed that you got picked. It does sound ungreatful, and you would have probably been better keeping these thoughts to yourself.
