I'm on an American radio show this evening recording a program about Die Hard. We do a different 80s film each week, looking back at the sub-plots surrounding the making of the film, cast, bloopers etc.

But this one has the over-riding question - is it a Christmas film?

Absolutely 100% yes, it’s based around family and it’s Christmas Eve when it all happens.

We've pre-decided already that I will take the side of yes it is a Xmas film and one of the other guys will try to make out it isn't. I've always believed that Hans Gruber shot Santa on the way to the Nakatomi Plaza otherwise he would have been in the film too.

We've got some interesting back stories on who was offered the role of John McClean before Bruce Willis took it. The original book/film contract meant Frank Sinatra had to be offered it first. Stallone, Arnie and also Richard Gere were considered before Willis got the gig.

And of course we will have the blooper story of the magic ambulance that appears from the terrorist's truck!

Mention the orchestra, they are in the building at the party in the beginning, never seen again, how did they escape?

Let us know if it ever ends up on YouTube or any other media source, looking forward to seeing that. 👍

i also try to get my daughter to ball her feet up whenever she gets anxious somewhere new!

Here is the show - we delayed it a few days because everyone was talking about Star Wars last weekend. I join my two colleagues TJ Rives and Jay Betsill around 19:00 into the programme. We will be doing Top Gun in early January and have a bunch of other 80s and 90s films lined up for the new year too. We have some good back stories throughout the program about the film, the actors. We were hoping to get the guy who played Argyle the limo driver on but he did not make it.
