I posted earlier in the week about playing with the Mizuno MX 200's and iv reached the decision to go ahead and trade in for the sake of consistency and enjoyment.....

Im currently playing Wilson Staff FG Tours and while they are lovely bats im afraid work, sleepless nights, children, and just off days in general make them a bit of a chore to hit......I have dropped my handicap from 21 tp 17 with them butif im honest with myself that had more to do with a little magic on and around the greens rather than from 170,180,or 200 out for that matter.

Iv always lived by the saying nothing ventured nothing gained and it suits this dilemma to a tee.....
Im never afraid to try anything but i feel that if i want to knock the handicap even more and get better then it'll will be a bit of a roller coaster ride with the Players irons......

They do reward you for the good swings and when your hitting well but with the average club player like myself as everyone can relate too this is never really very often...more occasional....

Im moving to the Mizzy MX 200 for the better i hope and will keep them until im well into singles with a little help iv played a full round with just the irons and there just butter to hit and very forgiving and also a little workable if required Distance is about the same as what im using but there accuracy has won me over no end......Wish me look  :D :D

I think its a sensible post and choice to be honest.

I treated myself to a beautiful set of Mizuno MP 60's, custom fit numbers a few years back and when I hit them they were lovely, they were nice irons however I think I lacked the consistency to get the best out of them, I persevered for about 3 months before taking a £300 hit and selling them and went back to my Ping I5's.

Ping and I seem to like each other and I wont ever switch away again!

Another Mizzy convert!!

Out of interest, did you try the 300's?

And good luck with the 200's.

No hapless iv seen them in the flesh alright but havent hit them.....Is there a big difference......I havent actually traded my own yet....It'll be mext weekend....

Did you hit them again, or is it just the few shots you posted about before that swung it?

Ya region i actually played a full 18 with them only and to say they inspired me was an understatement.......Maybe it was a confidence thing i dont know!.... Now i never felt intimidated by the wilsons....They're not exactly blades it was more of being true to myself and my game that iv decided to switch....I do like the wilsons and id recommend them to anyone that feels they have a sound enough game for them but the will punish you if your not feeling or hitting 100%.....But they are hittable.......

Yes Craw....

I just feel that maybe there is someone else about that may have stepped over the fence into Player Iron territory and are maybe questioning there decision also.
Its something that alot of golfers would love to answer but few dare to question for fear that they just will not get on with them......I dont regret my decision to buy the wilsons one bit...As i said nothing ventured nothing gained and im not going to say that you learn from your mistakes as i dont feel i made a mistake in going for the wilsons but each and everyone to there own......I hope this time that iv made the right decision....Only time will tell. :D :D

Just joined the Mizuno mob too, made the mistake of going to have a look at the MP58s with a credit card in my pocket, ended up with the full custom fit, got to wait a week for the finished article then I'll be fluent Japanese, subirashi desio!

Have you done it yet?

Not yet Dave....I wont be able to get in until the weekend.
Im going to try and get the mizuno fitment done...There is 1 shop in our area that are main dealers for Mizuno......
The only other club that i would consider falling back on would be maybe the Cobra S2's

Cobra S2s are tasty, try them side by side with the 200s and if you don't like them, I'd be most surprised. If you think the MX-200s are easier to use than FG tours, try the S2s. You might be surprised....

Difference between the FG's and the Mizuno's are night and day dave..... I havent actually hit the S2's although iv had the 2 side by side the only thing that stood out for me was that i could see the cavity in the back of the Mizzy's whereas in the Cobra's it was cleverly hidden....
The only thing i would be a little apprehensive with in the cobra's is id be afraid that the Polymer inserts may fall out over a period of time.

Technicaly speaking. Slightly thinner opline, slightly thinner sole, slightly less offset, and of course the sweetspot is where you'd expect it to be, in the middle. The 8 through to PW aren't cavity backs, and the cavity backs on the 4 to 7 are progressive. The leading edge of the sole has a slight chamfer (if that's the correct terminology), to resist digging into the turf and seems to work quite well. At address, even on the 5 iron, you can't see the cavity at all, unless you've got got a very 'hands pushed forward' set up.

I tried the 200s earlier this year when I was changing irons, but I just didn't like the look of them, and appeared to give no additional 'forgiveness' than the 300s. Though admittedly, I wasn't hitting the ball off the toe much. Which is of course the 200s big selling point.

The 300s should do me now. I can't see me wanting, sorry, needing to change, as they'll be perfectly good enough no matter how good I get!

Theoretically, I should have gone from my MX19s to the 200s and then to the 300s. But the 300s were better looking, and showed no disadvantage (for me) over the 200s. So I figured that I'd go with what I'd be happiest with in the long term.

And that's the crux of it. Go with with feels right for you.

As for polymer inserts and the like. Personally I don't like them or the look of them. Nothing technical, just a dislike really. They are probably perfectly good clubs, just not to my taste.

Sorry I can't compare the FG Tours to the 300s, as I never even considered Wilson kit. Bit of a Mizzy tart I'm afraid.
