Debate! When will tiger make his comeback?

I think that it is a given that Tiger will play at the Masters so the question is what, if anything, he does before then.

Conventional wisdom suggests that he will have to do an off-the-course expose so that when he does return it is all about golf and not the stories that have dominated the headlines for the past few months.

Last year the return was at the WGC Accenture Match Play and I suppose that this is a possibility again this time. However, the difference this year is that Tiger has not been out injured. All of the facets of the game will be there, he just will not be course-sharp. This will need to be rectified before Augusta, but perhaps mid-February is too early.

The answer will therefore be dependant of whether he wants one or two warm up events. If one, then it is likely to be the Arnold Palmer, if two, we may see him a couple of weeks before at the WGC event in Doral.

One "insider" who has been quoted in the golfing press recently reckons there is more chance that Woods will never play again than there is that he will play at Augusta this spring.

I suppose when (if?) he plays again depends entirely on what motivates him to play in the first place, and as none of knows that, none of us knows the answer to the question.

I think the thing to remember is that he will be subject to some pretty interesting comments from galleries if and when he plays again - it's whether he is motivated enough to put up with it all.

For that reason I would be a little surprised to see him play the Ryder Cup in Wales this autumn. Can you imagine the galleries there being sympathetic towards him?!

I wondered if he would give up for good, but when you think golf has been his life since he was about 3 and he is so close to Jack's record, he will be back 2 tournaments before Augusta

The thing is......who cares ?

I'm waiting for the day when the story of his involvement with this Drug Tzar breaks in detail, then everyone will put everything together......

I'd LIKE him to be back for the Masters, not sure it will happen this year though. He has so much talent that I'm sure he can take Jack's record even if he has two or three years off. Look at Vijay, 22 wins+ since he turned 40 and Tiger is in a different class with a putter in his hands.

I still think ChrisMC and his obvious dislike of Tiger will be waiting a long time for anything to be proven in relation the Woods taking drugs. I think he'll come the week before Augusta but you can bet he'll have been somewhere and practiced like his life depended on it

The life he would have if he gave it all up would probably be more damaging to him than staying the course would be, no matter how irritating. So he will be back, I just think his wife will be pretty close.....period! as the Yanks like to say.

Secretly he will be dying to get out and play competitive golf, but I get this gut feeling he’ll be trying to keep that to himself for now. How long he can keep away from the course will be a balancing act between his marriage and his need for golf.

I genuinely think this could be the case.

I think he'll have looked at the calender and earmarked the WGC-CA at Doral as his comeback on 11-14 March, then the Arnold Palmer Invitational on 25-28 March and then he'll be at The Masters.

I hope so anyway, golf needs Tiger back!

I really think Tiger will be taking at least a year or two off and maybe he might never return, for Tiger it was all about the W's and to improve. He is rich beyond imagination, I really think he now doesn't want the life that got him into this mess in the first instance, it was never about breaking records as many like to think, has Tiger ever once mentioned JN's record? No.

You otherwise why post on the thread :D ;) ;)

As for the drugs no chance he is far too good a athlete to need any enhancement on or off the course :D
