It's a mates birthday at the end of October and we'd like to do a day out somewhere. A round of golf on a Saturday then a night out and home on the Sunday.

We're based in Kent so only really want to travel 2 hours max. We'd like a nice course, £40-£50 green fee and near to or a short taxi journey away from a major town for the night out.

Any suggestions?

Cheers.

Its got to be Bournemouth for me.

There are some cracking courses. Meyrick for example which would I guess be reasonably cheap to play. Easy start with a 247 yard par 3! The next 4 are no easier. You can stay on site and can walk into town.

Queens would be another option but Meyrick is better IMO.

If you want a course a bit more up market go for Ferndown, Purbeck, Parkstone etc. Purbeck is a cracker although its a drive from the town centre (or a ferry and drive going the direct route).

Good night life in Bournemouth too (insert winking smilie - if you know what I mean!).

Through Yourgolftravel. Menzie hotel and Golf Club.
20th Oct. 1 night 2 rounds of golf. Dinner with half bottle wine per person and Breakfast for £79 a person.
15 minute taxi to Cambridge.

Course is very nice and well maintained.

Can't comment on the golf courses, but we had a lad's weekend in Bournemouth and it was great. Stayed at the Premier Inn Bournemouth Central.

Some good pubs around, including a cracking one called the Goat and Tricycle (if it's still open) for a lazy Sunday. Pool table and dart board away from the rest of the pub meant we were there from 11.30 to 20.30 without affecting/annoying anyone! It's a walk from the main part of town, so not one I'd recommend for your main evening blast.

Why not start with the town, and work out to a golf course? Within 2 hours, there's loads of good towns/cities with pretty good courses closeby:
Canterbury, Brighton, Eastbourne, Hastings, St Albans, Birmingham (just about 2 hrs), Oxford, Portsmouth, Southampton, etc

Thanks for the replies. In fact the course and golf would be more important than the night out, we can have a good night anywhere they serve beer and jack d!

I went to Bournemouth for my stag do in April so I know how good a night that can be! I'd love to back and see whats her name from that strip club. One of my mate spent £1400 in there on the first night of the weekend.

We live in Ashford/New Romney so north Kent and upwards really.
