Yep he presented superstars and also the world snooker chamionship

He was one of the BBC's go to guys for all kinds of sports and presenting assignments. Agreed not a very long life but from the tributes I've heard on the TV it seems he was not only one of the true professionals in his industry but a friendly sort of guy who would give newbies advice not scared they would take his job and seems to have been loved as a person by the sporting fraternity off camera

He was the original quizmaster on A question of sport and started a legend among TV programs.

I always remember him from Ski Sunday....used to watch it religiously even though i've never actually skied myself .

Think you are thinking of David Coleman for the sports commentator (catchphrase "quite remarkable") and David Steele for the politician

Top commentator and highly knowledgeable.

For me he was as good at a number of sports as Brian Moore was at Footy.

First memories were of early Q of S with Cliff Morgan & our Enery.
