Compare to what Man City have been paying for strikers,Santa Cruz, Jo and the Italian bloke, he's a bargain. Great scoring record, one less than Rooney and Drogba over the last five years, and still only 26. 32 goals in 58 games for Sunderland. Always puts in a shift and doesn't seem to be injured that often. Wonder if they would consider a swop for Shane Long ?

In my opinion Darren Bent Is not mediocre by any stretch of the imagination he is a goalscorer and it is no coincidence that sunderland have progressed and got better since he joined them. £18m is alot but if he or any proven goalscorer can fire you into the champions league and all that revenue that comes with it, it will look like a bargain... However going to the villa will not see him playing champs league football maybe championship football next year. If £18m for bent is too much then £12m for wellbeck is absurd he won't even get close too making it as a starter for man Utd in the future .... Wellbeck is very very average at best imo.

Harry Redknapp was disgraceful in his treatment of bent, a prooven goalscorer. Disgusting.

Shows what a 2-bob prat Redknapp can be at times underneath it all.

Here we have his gimp, Peter Crouch, Mr 1 Goal In 22 Games, who misses chance after chance and all Harry says is that "Crouchy is triffic"

I hope bent goes onto good things wherever he goes and I will always remember him fondly for his time at the lane.

He's never impressed me, but then again not many of these over paid and over rated players do. The bottom line is that he scores goals, and he's on form. At todays prices £18M is a stupid bargin,....but Villa????

To be totally fair the prices arent too bad for under 16's. Me and my mates are going to watch wolves vs Man United on feb 5th for a tenner.

Yeah, but who wants to watch the U16's play, unless you're Graham Rix? :)

I had to google Graham Rix. lol
