Anyone just seen Jerry Kelly get a penalty drop when his ball lodged in a palm. Apparently there was 1mm of blue line visible (via someones zoom) and Slugger White has given him the benefit. Now blue is a popular colour so can anyone be 100% certain it was his ball beyond all reasonable doubt. If I was in the field and contending I'd be unhappy that the rules officials have done everything to protect the field. Don't think Kelly did anything wrong except use the rules to his advantage but I think the rules officials have opened a huge can of worms

Was this due to not being 100% sure it was his ball? Mark and replace once identified surely?
I'm sure some of these officials get bullied into the bending of the rules.

overheard him pointing out the dimple pattern on the ball - straws and clutching spring to mind!...as you say Homer, the field may well feel they haven't been protected in this instance - case of ref lacking requisite conkers...

I cant believe the official gave him relief based on a little blue line, they couldnt even tell the brand or number on the ball !!!

I missed this, would like to see it, I think that if all he could see was a tiny part of the blue line, he cant be 100% sure and is basically taking the pee!!! I would be very disappointed if he went on to win!
