Well it had to happen but I finally lost my unbeaten 4BBB record playing in club matches stretching back over 18 games (officially 12W and 6H before to day according to club records - not what I had but hey ho).
Played at Caversham Heath today. Very long track at 6875 off the whites. Got done 5&4 and yet after all my recent complaining about the state of my game I had 36 points (granted there were some concessions). The annoying thing was they had tined and sanded their greens and were a nightmare to putt on. They were bumpy and slow and so you couldn't approach a 6 footer for the win and play it with any pace or conviction. Fair play to one of their guys off 15 who had approximately 43 points so was well under his handicap. He made a statement of intent with a birdie at the 1st. I guess my highlight was hitting the 489 yard par 5 15th in two (drive and 3 wood) and just missing an eagle. I did play the last 6 holes level par. My partner struggle off the tee but the opposition were just too good.
Got a match at home to Tylney Park next week so still got the unbeaten him record to defend. Not too disappointed as I played well. It's a nice track and worth a game and I'l definitely go back to see what the greens are like once they've finished working on them.
