I took .75" of my Burner its still 45.25" which is plenty long for me. Does help keep it straight.
I believe to measure its from the tip of the butt end to the point where the driver meets the floor. You need to hold the club at the address angle.
Its easy to do, just remove the old grip, put the club in a vice with the proper shaft protector, cut using a hacksaw, and then regrip the club. I can do it for you if you are local
