So here's an interesting (amusing?) scenario - nowt to do with golf but I thought I'd share the situation with the brains that visit this forum.

So our car went in for some warranty work, it was kindly collected and returned by the dealership. Unfortunately for the driver(idiot) who returned the car it has a camera system. While the systems announces it is recording his primitive cognitive processes means he clearly doesn't take any notice.

The data records his personal insults about us and our posh address: we've never visited the premises. This is along with many expletives about Arab and Muslim drivers, all this while he's on the phone to a mate! This conversation is probably not hands-free (unless he's using a Bluetooth connected earpiece). At the time he's running at 68mph on a single lane road. A few miles later he hits 80+ on a dual carriageway.

A second phone conversation is picked up: at this time the cars accelerating onto a dual carriageway at 80mph; he then undertakes a few cars while reaching 104mph.

Speed bumps obviously aren't an impediment being cleared at 35mph in a 30 zone outside a school (they're on holiday so no real foul) !!

Clearly its highly unlikely I will use this garage again but what else...

1 do nothing, life too short to waste it dealing with prats

2 send the video to the dealership's manager.

3 send video to cops.

As golfers of integrity- give me your advice

Based on the driving alone option 2 stands out. Perhaps speak to the manager and see the response before actually forwarding the video. How he drove was dangerous.

The chatter bothers me less, that is left in the prat category.

The chatter and bad mouthing is a kid being an idiot. He returned your car without crashing it or killing anyone. If you do nothing and he kills someone next time he’s returning a car you are culpable.

Report it to his manager in the strongest terms.

Go back to the dealership, ask to see the head man / service manager, tell them no problems with the service but very politely ask them them to view the on board footage..... Sit back and see what happens.

Speak to his manager and leave it up to him if it goes to the police

The guy is likely to be sacked why give him a criminal record aswell.

Plus snitches get stitches

Speak to the dealer principal at the site.

Then await how much compensation you will be getting. That’s the 1st course of action they normally take is to buy your silence from going to
The press.

Totally unprofessional of the driver to be doing that to your car but it’s not the 1st time it’s happened and I sure it won’t be the last time.

Post the video on Facebook and Twitter... sit back and watch the fireworks! :ooo:

Seriously though you have to cover your own back, you don't know what tickets or offences he may have picked up on your behalf.

Do you really need a golfers forum to tell you what to do? you know yourself that the right course of action is to speak to the garage and inform them of the evidence and that the police will be involved .

No I don't NEED the help thanks. I just thought driver's stupidity might provide amusement for debate. I was under the impression that the Forum was for idle debate. Anyone who takes the stuff on here seriously really needs to get out on the course.

I’m puzzled slightly. Your car has a front facing camera and audio recording?? Did u install these? Just curious, for what reason?
Either way, report him to his employer, they’ve a duty of care & dropped the ball.
There’s also an argument for going to the police, in case he kills someone, but the former makes the latter less likely

The system is very common these days and its a pretty standard setup with front and rear facing cameras. They can be set to record 'events' when the cars is disturbed when parked and/or whilst driving. We installed these device on our cars several years ago initially because in our neck of the woods, there was a spate of insurance fraud accidents being staged. Usually 3/4 guys would pull in front of a solo driver and stamp on their brakes causing a rear end shunt.

Ive used video to help another driver who was hit by a car, the driver of which claimed he'd been driven into. Footage from these systems are increasingly used by insurers, some of who also offer discounts on premiums.
