Custom Fit ?

Hi Guys, I was custom fit for G15 last Summer and whilst it was from a main stockist/range I was never comfortable with being advised of stiff shaft .

I'm approaching 50 and my swing is slowing down rather than up.

I just wondered if anyone else feels as if they could possibly have been mis-advised ?

Where were you fit and what equipment did they use to measure your swing speed?

Did you hit the club indoors (Simulator) or out doors on a range?

Stiffness (knees, hips, back) should be a familiar feeling to you, at your age!

Stiff flex in a stock shaft does not imply any great rigidity, though. The swing speed needed for stiff in the Ping TFC 149D is not much more than 90mph or so.

The most important issue is how you hit it. If you get the ball well flighted and decent distance, then be aware that moving to regular may only add greater dispersion.

Hi

Got fit at Garforth Driving Range, Leeds. Outdoor but with strong left to right crosswind, and probably on a bad swing day !
No launch monitor or vector used.

I hit them well but with a 10 yd fade at the end. If I try and close the face i end up pulling it. When I was fit he said I was on the border line of reg & stiff and guess he suggested stiff because of the dispersion. he also had them made 1/2" longer which suprised me too as never had anything other than standard length before- Going to Oulton Hall tomorrow to have them checked out !

OK, might be the stiffness then. Ask the pro (or contact Ping yourself) and ask if it is possible to have the driver adjusted to make it half a flex softer.

Irons are easier to adjust. You can have an aftermarket soft step done on them, and the extra half inch might help with that. Ask Ping. They might even do it for next to nowt.
