I sold a bag to a fellow forummer a few weeks back and when he received it, it was broken. Done in transit we both expect. He sent it back and I gave him a refund.

I contacted American Golf and asked them if the bag was still under warrenty ( I knew it was, I just wanted them to say bring it back) and they did. The young chap on the phone was very helpful and got all my details up and told me he would sort it if I brought it in.

I couldn't make it so my Mrs went in for me and they guys said we'll order him a new one. My mrs very kindly asked them if I could have store credit (like what I did with the title there :D ) because she bought me a new bag for Xmas and she didn't want two in the house. They agreed and told her I could have £80 to spend instore.

Credit (again with the title :D ) to AG they have restored my faith in them.

Credit to the mrs too! I won't say it a 3rd time :D

And you've got £80 quid to spend.

You've got to credit her with the quickness of thought to ask for that.

half-decent customer service - would you credit it.

Credit to you thought Tony for starting what could be a very creditable thread. :D :D

Saves you spending on your credit card. Fair play mate, will help you out in the credit crunch.

Cant think of any more ways to use the word credit.

Agree with Andy.

That's not a warranty issue with the product especially when it's damaged in transit when being sold on to a third party.

Posting the info on here will also alert AG to the fact they were duped , should they read this post.

When you put it like that, I suppose its a good point. But, who has been duped? I only told American golf that the plastic bit on the stand had broken off. They never asked how so I didnt feel the need to tell them.

The guy on the phone said they are really good bags but the stands have been known to break in that same place its not uncommon.

As others have said Tony, all credit to you (and the missus).
I'm thinking of sending my bloody SkyCaddie back to AG. Somethings not right with it.
The yardages it is giving me are way out, by at least two club lengths.
It tells me I've got 150 yards to go and my 7 iron has come up 20 yards short three times now.

TonyN...It appears that CREDIT is due to everyone mentioned in your post!
It springs to mind though that the reason the country is in the deep doo-dah is the b(?)ankers dishing out too much credit to one and all?
Think that we should all be careful about how much credit we spread around now!
But good on AG! :p

I would just like to add to this. I was going to start a new thread regarding this.

I was that fellow forumer. I would like to thank TonyN publicly for his actions. I have thanked him privatly but would like to make it public.

It was nice to to have a follow up on my purchase and thanks TonyN for swiftly dealing with the matter.
Its the first time I bought something over the net and unfortunately it didnt work out. I suppose its one of the benefits of dealing in the buy sell section of the forum.
Now if anyone is wanting to buy a time share in a ........... dont worry only kidding.
Thanks again TonyN

On a serious note.....I wonder who "pays" for returned stuff.

I took a big ticket item back to Sainburys and got a refund after a fair old ding dong. My feeling was that J.S. would probably get a refund from the manufacturer anyway.

If TonyN's bag was a Callaway, surely Callaway will send AG another or credit their account for the original wholesale price.
t.b.h. I'd expect Callaway to replace it anyway if you phoned them up....that's my experience....

My mate bought a Mizuno bag years ago and the strap broke after a month. For some reason, the pro stayed out of it and he went direct to Mizuno. Mizuno refused to help in any way until a nicely printed letter from a top London law firm arrived on their doorstep!!! It helps if your brother is a lawyer!!! (I wish mine was...)

Farneyman, very kind words there thankyou. Didn't use your name incaseyou didn't want it mentioning but I must also give credit to you for good comms etc. Swift payment made in the first place and well packed sent back. Cheers

Dave I do expect callaway foot the bill, the bag I have just returned was actually a replacement for another callaway bag that had a big split down the inside pocket. I sent it back and callaway shipped out that one immediatly. The same was going to be done this time but my mrs got the store credit so I expect AG to invoice callaway.

Tony,

As DCB says the bag was damaged in transit so you should have taken the issue up with the Royal Mail or whatever courier you used to ship the bag, not abused the warranty supplied with the bag which I'm sure is for damage during general use?

Your call, and it's done now but would have done the honourable thing and looked for compensation from the shipping company.

Went into AG today, explained to the guy there how I think the bag was damaged. He said not to worry as the stands have broken before on Callaway bags and should be robust enough to withstand travel etc. He even said it might of been that the stand had worn over time and was not noticable but only took 1 time placing it down for the plastic to pop off.

He also said that the manager had no problem giving me vouchers before he even spoke to Callaway. SO what does that say?

Doesn't change a thing to me Tony. You still took advantage of the warranty from AG.

Now having read DCB's reply last night you felt guilty?

Read the posts, the bag was broke during transit not when being used to carry golf clubs.

I'm sure Callaway's wording on their warranty mentions nothing about a bag being covered when shipped. Or does it, who has a copy?
