Craigielaw Golf Club?

played craigielaw once, and have to say i didnt enjoy it. No holes stood out to me just a mix of the same really.

How about north berwick west links? great test of links golf, and always come of the course happy no matter what ive shot. Gullane is a good shout too, as i assume if you join gullane you get to use all 3 courses.

Plenty of better players than me at Gullane (which is another attraction TBH) so I doubt that'd open doors for me.... especially now I've crept up to 8 after our first medal grr!

Have already been toying with this idea for about a year.... if I keep procrastinating there's a few members who will have known me long enough to propose me next year! :smirk:
Save your dosh petal...play more opens on the longer courses and go for gullane next year! there! ;)

FD if you are off 8 then I would say they would be interested in you, I get the impression that you are quite young which helps as well.
My brother has been a member of Gullane for nearly 50 years.
The club has to keep increasing the membership due to VAT problems with very high visitor numbers.
I would definately give them a buzz, good men/women mix as well.

also enjoyed it, I thought the first was a really tough par 3 until I'd played it and was told its a short par 4, tough wee green to hold.
decent practice facilities and clubhouse..........
However, I have to say, and I can't quite put my finger on it, but I felt there was something missing, maybe atmosphere or ambience, it just felt quite big and soulless in the clubhouse. Dont let it put you off, just felt I had to mention it, only been there 3 times though and enjoyed it each time.

as a visitor I think this represents a pretty insightful comment - sometimes the atmosphere needs help anywhere though (the morgues I have found myself in at Luffness and Royal Cinque Ports spring to mind as even worse!).

good snacks/food as someone else mentioned.

a course/club to progress and develop your game - handicaps should travel well!

I definitely agree that at 8 FD should approach the club of her choice rather than presuming their response; the way the aproach is made, and the respose, both say a lot about both parties and should enable a solid decision to be made.

Interesting comments folks, thanks. I probably will give gullane a buzz.... Leave it until next week after seeing if I can get back down to 7 over the weekend; still annoyed about going up! :)

personally I would write in the situation you have outlined....apart from anything else it's so much easier to control what you communicate :)

I'm glad to hear that - no offence but all will be revealed soon!

;)

Is Dunbar out of the equation? Thought it was a super test of golf when I was battered by a monsoon back in March!

Still an option for sure.
Gullane...or Dunbar...hmmm
Gullane - 3 courses, great pro shop, nice club house
some fantastic long holes, great views, perfect greens

Dunbar is flat...great course, those holes on the headland are superb...

eek! I cant decide ;)

join both!

It wouldn't do you any harm to find out more about Gullane ... Did you know that the guy that we played with last Sunday is on their Committee? Without any doubt he'd help you out and you'd definitely get an invite for a game if you hinted. :)

I didn't know that. I know his missus is a member there and assumed he was too. I've played down there a fair bit with another girl who signs me on fairly regularly.

I bet it's the waiting list that's putting you off

You've got the links bug and I'll eat my visor if you don't loose a couple of shots after signing up.
