Just come across some old Excel that I have password protected. I have now forgotten the password and am unable to open these.. I had a quick scan of the Interweb, while I can find VB code to unprotect sheets within a workbook, I cant (immediately) find anything that can open a protected Workbook.

Any hackers out there?

Try this?

If it was an actual administrator account I could help you but not this ;)

very interesting option... However it looks like this works if you have protected worksheet rather than a full workbook. When I try to open the workbook, it prompts me for the password.

If I rename my file to .xml and open as per the instruction then it open up a encrypted file - does not seem to have any xml structure

2003 was pretty unsecure so you should be able to download a password cracker. after that it will be a brute force attempt.
