We have the inserts and generally they work well enough. However, I hate putting with the flag in as there is still more chance of the ball not going in due to richocheting off the pin. It's happened to me a few times. Our club is now using narrower pins (from the ladies day events, pink pin, turquoise flag and really easy to see, I'd be happy to keep them permanently).

I'd be worried that your greenstaff can't work out something this simple.

It is a very low tech solution that works perfectly.

It does not matter anymore we bought the lift up style very shortly after trialling foam inserts. Just a week or so after the first lockdown.

No idea - didn’t even know posts were numbered! Anyway you’ve got a contraption that does some form of job until 21ish June anyway!

I recall Lossie used plastic piping - 25mm - cut to size. they also had foam in some holes but guess they used the piping in holes susceptible to water pooling in the cup
