Looking to put together an away weekend for up to 12 other golfers from my club. Needs to be within 2hrs of Harrogate N.Yorks, preferably a members club not corporate, with a nice town or village nearby to find lodgings and a couple (or more) pints in the evening. Looking for Sunday-Monday to keep costs down hopefully under £140 for 2 rounds of golf plus B&B possibly dinner too!

Not asking for much ;) but any suggestions would be great, thinking perhaps somewhere like Richmond (North Yorks) or Sickleholme in the peak district.

If you are looking at Richmond then Richmond, Ripon and Catterick GC would fit, play two out of the 3.

If you want to travel further and be more adventurous then stay in the Dormy houses at Foxton (Alnmouth GC) and play there, Bamburgh or Dunstanburgh. Foxton has agreements with other courses in the area and can help organise the tee times. Speak to them and see what they can offer. You can drink and eat in the club or walk into Alnmouth. Smashing village with lots of pubs.

One in the middle, Ramside Hall, Durham. One location, two courses on site, good clubhouse and bar.

Woodhall Spa ?

We have a Sunday Driver later this month and a Captain's Away Weekend in May at Kenwick Park in Louth, North Lincs. Been there several times, challenging course, good hotel, well worth the money - not expensive.

Sickleholme is a nice course in a lovely part of the country.

Siloth on solway fabulous links course plenty of hotels and B&Bs

Lancaster golf club has its own dormy in the castle clubhouse prices are in your range see website .
first class course everything about the place is stunning.

Thanks for all the replies, busy looking into a lot of these.
I've heard rumour that Woodhall Spa is making a load of changes to the course this year so probably wouldn't be in very good nic?
Looking for a club that is a bit more members club with a pub stay rather than anything too corporate.
I think the problem is there is too much choice round here!

The NW coast is pretty much bang on 2 hours away. With the size of the group you have you could try and negotiate a couple of rounds at Formby, Hillside maybe even S&A (which would be slightly cheaper than the other 2) with a B&B in Southport for around what your looking at paying.

Woodhall Spa would be a cracking choice too.

Sorry, and to add.... I would certainly be looking at NW coast, so many choices with different budgets and some great courses.
I know you said you didn't want resort style stuff, but Carden Park in Cheshire does great deals, two decent courses and hotel has a decent bar and a shuttle bus to Chester if you fancy a night out!

All the changes for this year have been completed, looks stunning.

What month are you looking for your trip?

At Woodhall Spa its just under £140 for 2 rounds 1 nights bed and breakfast till the end of April then its goes onto Summer rates.

Stay where you are. Have a night out in Harrogate and play Oakdale and Knaresbrough. Ha ha. You are very well blessed around your area. I've had a number of golf trips to Harrogate and hope to go again shortly.
