Course snack

I don't know anyone else who takes raw vegetables in their golf bag.

My wife got me a little container, which has a compartment for ‘batons’ of carrot/cucumber/celery and a separate little one, which I fill with peanut butter or hummas. A little dip and it’s a great snack.

I don't doubt that a well structured overall diet can be beneficial to health and well being including things like Backache.
Just a bit sceptical that my current habit of not usually eating during a round of golf is particularly detrimental to my health or golf.
I'm with you and the gent who only has something if missing a mealtime. A round of golf is barely above 1mph so unless carrying barely gets above our baseline energy consumption.
Golfers are nothing if not suggestible though, as sales of odd coloured liquids in plastic bottles and foil wrapped UPFs in the proshop demonstrate. Whatever's wrong with bringing your own bottle of water, a peanut butter sandwich and a banana escapes me...

Or it will boost your energy levels, helping you to burn more calories, which may lead to weight loss, helping take the pressure off your aching back?
Utter hogwash, I don't need my energy levels boosting.
If I boosted them what we would happen?
Would I suddenly start doing press ups on each tee?
What would I do that would burn more calories?

Walk a bit faster, I'm not really bothered to be honest and you're clearly missing my sarcasm, so I'll leave you and your dodgy back alone now. :)

For your interest there is virtually no difference in calories burned covering the same distance no matter the speed.

I usually call into the Co-Op on the way to the course and pick up a meal deal. Either Ham and Cheese or Chicken and Bacon sandwich, Lucazade Sport and a grab bag of Flamin Hot Monster Munch. I'll have the sandwich on the way round (usually after 6 and 12) with the Lucazade and the Monster Munch on the drive home.

I've got my dad's employee discount card so the meal deal cost me £3.20. A bottle of Lucazade out the fridge in the pro shop is £2 I think, so may as well get the better value meal deal. Comes in handy as I rarely have breakfast on the weekend rounds, just a mug of coffee before leaving. The midweek round the sandwich is essentially dinner.

If it's really hot I'll also take a big cup of water or juice with me in one of those knock-off Stanley cups.

They can prevent death from lack of nutrition. Better than nothing, maybe.

I feel the need to eat if my tee-time means that my usual lunch time will be out on the course.
To accompany my two mini pork pies I will have a couple of radishes or a couple of plum tomatoes, maybe a carrot. One time I had some small pickled onions.
I might also include an apple or a banana.

I have a vision of you making a little salad for yourself while out on the course. What dressing do you use?

Maybe this is more accurate:

Decent teacake from the local bakery, sliced in half then SMOTHERED with Lurpak, and some good quality ham from the butchers in the middle.

Or a decent growler from the aforementioned butchers.

Forget the tea cake debate, what the hell is a growler? Sounds rude.
