Course Condition- Playable or not

The joys of working for the NHS and flexi time. Tomorrow is a 1/2 day annual leave as is Monday as I need to use it up before the end of the month or lose it. Already got my days booked for golf for the 2010/11 leave year though and can probably add another 6-10 flexi days on top

Aye, but when you get to the Vijay level of golf thats when you need to think about cutting back!

I persuaded my club to drop the trolley ban this morning. It helped my golf a little - not much.

Bet it helped with the old back though TWM.

I had an electric trolley as a birthday present, which was in December and what with the weather, have used it only once!

Here's hoping the ban is lifted at the weekend ;)

Golfmmad.

I heard that they have finally opened the front 9 today, though with some temps - tees or greens I don't yet know.
The back 9 is still shut and I don't expect it to open until the beginning of April, parts of the 15th are still under water and doubtless in front of the 11th green will be a swamp and the 13/14th fairways not much better.

we need the river to stay down at least a foot and no rain.

Played Highwoods last week, it wasn't too bad. Bit squidgy in places but the greens were OK and only one mat.
Played East Brighton at the week-end and you would have thought it was May or June (apart from the freezing cold wind). Course was in amazing shape, superb greens, fluffy grass around the fringes and beautiful turf to walk on.
Not a bit of mud on my donkey jacket or wellingtons

Played 18 this afternoon. Still freezing in the wind but everything has dried out a treat. The greens were actually really quick where the wind had blown them dry and it played really well although driving into the wind was still a challenge. I hit the ball pretty solidly at last and if I could have putted (34 putts including 3 x 3 putts) then I'd have scored more than my 36 points easily. Having had a short game lesson isn't it the way that I suddenly find more GIR's (44%) and so have less need to chip

Maybe being more confident with your chipping free's you up a bit on the fairway and your hitting better irons into the green.

When you worry about getting it on the green then your already under pressure and it comes out with poor shots - leaving you off the green

On holiday so played 18 this morning at 8.30 and to be honest the 1st 6 holes were frostbound and would have been shut a month ago but subs renewal looms, my theory anyway ;)course is looking great though with the squad of greenkeepers we have as the college provides them for practice. went back out for 9 this afternoon and what a differance 6 hours make. roll on summer.

Could do with those guys at my course, the tossers, sorry greenkeepers we have, have`nt even reached apprentice level yet. No doubt they`ve been sitting in the bothy playing cards etc whilst all that snow is on the ground :(
