Course closures

Our course open all weekend. Foggy and very icy. Some of the bounces off the greens were incredible, took into space.

Winter League match on Saturday, and incredibly I was only 4 over gross after 15 holes (sadly also 4 over on last 3). Played in Stableford yesterday, I was terrible. Bizarrely, I got a handicap increase from it. Not so surprised due to frost (all main greens), but the fact one of the par 5's was on the ladies tees, much further forward, meaning I only had a wedge to the green in 2. I suspect this is an admin error in the comp set up, and they'll remove the scores this week.

Been closed since Sunday.
Probably shut all week due to snow.
Possible thaw after the weekend when it will probably flood.
Golf isn't fun this time of year
They are way too fond of temporary greens which makes it pointless playing.
I think I may not play until Spring.

Closed today since there's about 2 inches of snow. Once that melts I do fear for the course condition a little bit. It's been great up until now.
I’m thinking that after a very cold period when it warms up a bit and surface thaws but ground still frozen, we may well be shut to avoid surface damage.

I’m (supposed to be) going out tomorrow with a group of 3 or 4 Academy (Beginners) Ladies in the Ladies Christmas Frolic. I am the mentor/chaperone ? for the group and won’t be scoring, but if it goes ahead it’ll be fun advising them what to do. Think that’ll be limited to ‘point yourself towards the green; hit it, and see what happens’ ?. Actually not bad advice for us all ?
Poo…just been messaged that tomorrow’s Frolic has been cancelled by the Ladies Captain speaking with other ladies…too cold and hard, and all temps…what nonsense and no sense of fun ? That said a lot of the lady members who would have played are not exactly in the first burst of youth so it could be difficult and potentially dangerous for them.

Not sure whether this should go in this thread, the 'Random Irritations' thread or the 'Gladden the Heart' thread - but the course is closed due to snow
so the Seniors Xmas comp is cancelled (shame, but hurrah as it would have been slooowww). But the Xmas lunch is still on (yum)

Not been closed for one day yet, but they've introduced winter greens for when it's frosted up. Fair play really, protects the proper greens and still gives people an option to play.

Ours was closed Friday due to snow and frozen course. Opened Saturday, spoke to the pro, he said it’s because nobody’s mad enough to play in it, and if they are, good luck to them (a few of us played). Snowed a bit again on Sunday but still open. Closed today for some reason, still snow on the ground. Maybe the course was getting cut up?

Been closed all week in Sunderland / Durham areas. Ore snow yesterday too so weekend is a write off. As per post on first page though. Due for sub zero temps so why anyone would want to play….

Email yesterday stating that we were planning to stay open as much as possible but would be moving to temp tees and greens. Snow forcing a closure today, guess I'll give it a miss (don't play Monday's anyway :D )

Been closed since the snow. Email yesterday informing us that we’ll be closed into next week depending on the weekend thaw.

I suppose it means I can do some real Christmas shopping and start packing up the house pending our move.

Never mind the fact the course is still closed as the snow from the weekend hasn’t thawed yet, just had an email to say the range is also closed as the ball washer/dispenser has frozen! ❄️?

Frozen ground, lots of rain forecast for Sunday means lakes of water until the ground thaws....
Not expecting to play much if at all this side of Xmas

Despite our course always remaining open and on full greens during frosty, icy weather, it has been closed for 3 days. We haven't had any snow to speak of, but we do have some severe slopes which have been deemed too slippery for golfers to safely golf on.
I'm hoping the weekend thaw sees us out on Tuesday.
