Fed up.
I only have a couple of days off work & was looking forward to getting out for a game.
I arranged a four ball for today, after not being able to play yesterday due to the incessant rain.
It rained pretty much all day yesterday & all night last night, it's still chucking it down now, I have just had a message to say the course is flooded & shut.

The winter has only just started & already the ground cannot take any more water, parts of our lovely course are showing signs of very bad damage due to laying water & other parts are getting churned up into a mudbath.
It won't be long before the greens start to suffer, which will be a disaster as our greens have always been in fantastic condition, I am worried that the constant rain will cause irreparable damage this winter that will impact on next summers golf.

On top of all that, I read last week in one of the national papers that we are going to get the worst winter in 100 years this year?
I really hope they are wrong.

Trouble is it's been a wet Summer on top of a SuperWet Spring.
The ground hasn't really had a chance.
We're open apparently so I'm going paddling with Fragger!!

Played yesterday and the course was sodden and we had holes 8,9 and 10 not on the card and 3 winter greens. Winter can't be worse that a few years back where I was working in the depot in temps of -26 and the buses were off the road for a few days.

passed my course on the way home from work and the car park was empty, so I think it's closed due to flooding. Expected really as it's on flood plain and it has rained here since yesterday afternoon. The river running through the course is bursting at the seams again.

We are closed today, first time for a while, we had rainfall details put up on the notice board last week, every month of summer had over 100 inches of rain this year, including nearly 200 inch in June. Its no wonder coiurses are so wet.

Chucking it down here and doubt the course can take this so won't be surprised to hear it's closed. Was hoping for a break in the rain later and a quick 9 holes but looks like the range for me.

Our greens are already in a state - or at least 3/4 of them and they have areas marked as GUR which resemble walking on blancmange. The apron of the 8th is also all marked as GUR so a shot just short changes from an easy chip and run to a 30 yard pitch!

Flipping weather...

You sure about those numbers Lou.......?

100 inches is 8 feet and I reckon 16 feet of rain in one month would put a large chunk of the UK underwater..........:mmm:

even when ours opens after incessant rain, its pointless playing as its squelchy mud and winter greens.......no fun whatsoever. Must get some links games arranged for over winter.......and even next summer

Feel your pain mate... Up really early on Saturday only to ring and find its closed... I only play on a saturday at the moment due to work...

I would get on teeofftimes and book a local course thats open... We did and even though it wasn't great nick its just good to get out there when you have been looking forward to it.

oops milimeters :o The previous year only one of the summer months had more than 100.

On Sunday I booked a tee off time for this morning because today was forecast to be the best day of the week, but that all changed yesterday when heavy rain was moving in :(
Up early this morning and wouldn't you know it...pouring down! Cancelled my round because the course will be sodden enough without today's rain. Very frustrating!

Were closed also due to constant rain since Monday although I did get a quick 10 holes in on Tuesday morning.

The water tables are that high due to record amounts of rain that when we experience only a few days rain it will have a negative effect, even with loads of extra drainage that we have implicated.

We had a dry winter last year and played through it very well but that was at the expense of a wet summer! So, shall we put up with a wet winter in exchange for a glorious dry summer? We can only hope.

Unsurprisingly we're closed too it's been emptying down most of yesterday and all night, with the water table already very high not having recovering from the very wet spring/summer I think it's going to be a common theme this winter unfortunately. :(

Our's isn't closed but getting unplayable. We've had Winter rules and have to use tee's on all fairways but it is getting to the stage where you can't even use trolleys. With the amount of rain forecast too think I will be at the driving range nearer to me this weekend. I don't blame the clubs as the amount of rain we have had is unprecedented. Must be tricky for them.
