First of all I'll say that I wasn't playing the 'proper' course today. It was our 3 club (plus putter) competition, which we always play from the red tees. It makes the course about 5,600 yards.

Even though I wouldn't have counted it as a proper PB, I should have broken 70 today.

I'm happier with my wedge today than I am disappointed in my putting, but I can't help thinking "what if".

It's amazing how with only a couple of clubs it's possible to play really well, great shooting there. My second best gross score (+4) was made with no putter in the bag (like a numpty I left it in the car boot).

Fantastic GIR. You clearly are playing well. I wouldn't take anything from missing putts as its the middle of november and I haven't played any greens that are as true as 2 or 3 months ago.

Top shooting, dont worry too much about a cold putter in November, greens never going to be at their best (so blame them!) ((says the guy who holed everything in a 4bbb ko match today lol))

Wouldn't be pretty. As much of me as possible needs covering up!

It would be interesting with a full bag and having choices from tees.
Sadly I think the greens are quite good still so I can't use that as an excuse. It was just one of those days.

At my previous club I shot 78 gross off 21 handicap with a five wood, eight iron and putter - net 57 is still second lowest score ever in their three club comp - guy in group in front of me shot net 56 and I saw him hit nearly every shot - three clubs takes all the club selection trauma out of the game

I used 7 clubs in a pencil bag for yesterday's club competition. Tees were forward which helped. Came in with 36 pts which is as good as any score I've had recently. Didn't overly miss my other clubs
