Isn’t it about time Footjoy came out with a Cooljoys. Some form of shoe, not necessarily waterproof, that’s specifically designed for hot sunny dry days to keep our poor feet as cool as possible.

I like the name Cooljoy……cool. I’ve sent off for the patent.

Interesting shout. I thought Nike and Adidas were working on them a few years ago along with their running gear t develop a breathable material to soak up the sweat and an insloe that abosrbed the moisture. I'm sure these were due to be rolled out for the last olympics to catch the runner market but never heard anymore about them so perhaps they never went into production

Do adidas not have one particular golf shoe that has their patented climacool technology used in it? I thought I have seen them before now and from running shoe perspective the climacool thing really does work. I am surprised footjoy haven't already done this actually it is a good call. I would certainly be interested in a pair, and without having to worry about using waterproof membranes etc they could make a very stylish light weight shoe that would appeal to many. I don't think it would take much R&D either so I don't know why they haven't trialled it at least.

Thinking about it actually even on days where it looks like sunshine all day, in Britain you never have a weather guarantee and could easily get caught short on the course when the rain comes in. Yes you can slip on some waterproofs and open an Umbrella but would you really want to have to carry an extra pair of shoes 'just in case'. I know this isn't always the case but it is quite rare that you find a day where you can go out onto the course with absolutely no worries about rain: 10-15 times a year max. This means the shoes would get limited use as you would most likely wear your waterproof ones if you were not sure, so people may be put off spending what is probably the best part of £100 on a shoe that may not see much use. In more stable climates though where there is seldom any rain at all they could be successful. I'm not saying this would definitely be the case it's just an idea why footjoy may not have already launched a pair.

Count me in!

I want some summer golf shoes - any thoughts, anyone?

Also, to compliment the shoes, I'd like to wear shorts and not look like a british tourist on the beach at the costa del concrete.

So, here's the q? what's a good "look" for the summer. My grey trousers and dark coloured shirts are not for hot weather!!

PS - I'm not doing long socks unless I have to

Footjoy do some spikeless shoes on the website although I'm pretty sure these are more a traditional shoe and not something for the beach (may be wrong though). For summer golf shoes a pair of AQL's are lightweight and comfy. Nike do some decent shorts but I'm sure if you search the online golf shops you can find some shorts that fit the bill

In germany I saw a pair of golfing sandals. Complete with spikes. (you can also get golfing wellies for the winter). The down side to non waterproof shoes is that if you play early in the morning, the dew soaks everything. Also, when it is hot, they turn the sprinklers on sporadically too. The sandals are cool though.

All very nice, and some good ideas, however. If you're going to wear cotton socks, which don't breath, retain moisture etc, no matter what shoes you wear you will have hot sweaty damp feet.

I've always found that a decent pair of Gore-Tex footwear, paired with decent (non cotton) socks works well in pretty much all weathers.

wear trainer socks, you don't even see the sock.
I must admit that wearing socks to the knee doesn't appeal to me, unless they are worn with plus fours. :D

I have also seen the "jesus sandals" with spikes, cool, but,,, I would rather put 4" nails through my feet than look like a german on holiday

Cooljoys, I like it. Catchy!

Also I was thinking about the shorts. Can you really look good golfing in shorts?

Will be better than my 3/4's I know but I am yet to see any shorts that I like!

Shorts can look ok, but you need a decent pair of legs, and no beer gut.

Also, no black work socks, and no black shoes.

Yep, my feelings exactly.....although a gut is a gut really, shorts or not!!

Should I buy some white shoes and socks.....what length socks are legal for club-wear? it used to be long ones!!! :D
