I'm down in Hastings for 7 days from Monday playing Cooden Beach on the Friday. Although I've got HID with me, I might be able to squeeze a pre-game warm-up in on Wednesday or Thursday preferably later in the afternoon. Anyone down that way up for a knock and then I can run it by SWMBO.

If not, is their a course in the area with decent range/practice facilities.

Thank you in advance.

Thank you in advance.

Would liked to have joined you Fish, but have to work, and what with having the Friday off.............

I think Seddlescombe Golf Course has decent facilities.

Hope you sort something.

No worries, just looked at Seddlescombe but can't find anything about practice facilities on their site, however, Beauport Park GC is closer to where I'm staying and has a driving range and short game area and looks tight like my own course and is cheap as chips.

Any opinions on it?

Sedlescombe has a decent driving range...in fact it's about the ONLY driving range around here. Only ever played the golf course once...in the middle of Summer when it was rock hard and the ball was bouncing everywhere. It wasn't a terrible course, the conditions at the time were against it, although I have never rushed back there for another game. They do have a decent clubhouse and serve up some nice food though!

Beauport Park......... haven't played it for years mainly because my old ticker ain't what it used to be.
It's tough. And I mean Tough with a capital T.
It's one of the hilliest golf courses I've ever played, and has some of the toughest holes I've ever played too. Starts off gently enough, you will wonder what all the fuss is about. First 4 or 5 holes are a "walk in the park"...literally. And then it starts.
Give it a go. Just to say that you've played it. Better still, play 36 like we did one day. But don't make it towards the end of the week or you will still be aching at Cooden. I don't know what condition it's in at the moment. It was ok when we played it but that was years ago. I understand that they lost all their greenstaff a couple of years ago and the course had gone downhill big time, but I think they've sorted it now.
Personally, out of the two I'd rather play Sedlescombe as I'm knocking on a bit now. But it would be good if you played Beauport just for the experience. And you could tell us about it on Friday! Lol!!
I'd come out and have a knock with you somewhere mate, but my day off this week is Friday and that's already booked.

Cheers Smiffy, Not sure I want to put myself through what you have described at Beauport but will drop in their and have a mooch and let you know my findings over a few jars. I'm not overly fussed about a knock more a case of a driving range (grass preferred) and/or a par 3 or short game area so I can sneak out late in the day midweek and keep limbered up for Friday which I'm looking forward to, I'll drop in on Sedlescombe also ;)

Leaving here in a couple of hours, so, see you Friday

Sedlescombe has a little 9 hole par 3 course which is quite tricky and peanuts to play Fish. May well be worth taking your clubs along there and having a bash.
Safe journey and see you Friday mate
Rob

I liked sedlescombe, tricky dog legs....

Beaufort park is my first and only 6 hour round, I kid you not, 6 effing hours up and down humongous hills............we were a 3 ball and there was no-one in front or behind us either!!!!!!
That climb up 18 just about finished me off but it was not a 'happy ending'
