Competition - Favourite Ryder Cup moment

Monday.

E. Molinari couldn't hold off a heroic and incredible fight back by Rickie Fowler to take his full point which meant it would all come down to one man. He now had the weight and expectation of a whole continent on his shoulders and after a couple of back holes and a fight back from Team USA's Mahan, Graeme McDowell had 3 holes of golf to preserve a 1 hole lead to bring the Ryder Cup home with the momentum fully with Team USA, knowing they needed only half a point to retain the cup.

Who knows what was running through his head, but the 16th and 17th holes in the last match of the 2010 Ryder Cup will be something I never forget.

G-Mac splitting the fairway with his drive on the 16th showed the world that despite the pressure, he can channel it and not crack. If that wasn't proof enough, holing the tricky downhill putt to win the hole was one of the defining moments of any Ryder Cup. The relief, elation and reaction from the crowd was just phenomenal. If the 16th hadn't already shown it, to hit an all-but-perfect tee shot into the 17th green to give him two putts to regain the Ryder Cup solidified his status as one of the world's best golfers. The sportsmanship shown by Mahan followed by the team and crowd celebrations summed up this year's Ryder Cup to perfection.

To quote the man himself; "Hero's are made when no-one is watching. Legends are made when the world is watching." Graeme McDowell you sir are a Ryder Cup legend.
