Competition - Favourite Ryder Cup moment

Ian Poulter - Every time he made a winning put the sheer passion he showed. How many times did he hole out from between 8 and 10 feet?

Star man for the second Ryder Cup running.

For me the best moment of the Ryder Cup was Miguel being introduced at the closing ceremony to the biggest cheer of anyone, all whilst looking like a Colombian drug baron, priceless, he is my new hero and if I had any hair left I would have a pony tail in his honour.

Legend!

I'm going to follow on with the "mechanic" theme here and plump for the wonderful Jiminez evacuating the whole hotel because he decided to light up one of his Cubans in his room and set off the smoke detectors in the Hotel!

Brilliant stuff, made me chuckle that did.

I am going for the climax,Mahan could have seen Gmac putt,Gmac said he couldn't feel his arms so Mahan really could have asked the question but he was classy enough to shake hands and the way he took his hat off before exchanging handshakes summed up what a classy moment it really was.

It HAS to be on Thursday at the opening ceremony, before a ball was struck in anger.....and it was Tiger choosing to look to the heavens rather than Katherine Jenkins's bum in a very tight red dress - ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS !!

PS - the golf was pretty good too.

But Gmac will never be able to say he held the putt to win the Ryder Cup. He did actually try to a couple of times, and then remembered he was given it.

Mahan is just a spoil sport !! :D :D :D

Mine was when Jimenez chipped in during the singles. I've not been able to find it again but I remember him looking very casual about it, as if to say "what do you mean the one back would have been 20'?"

I'm sure I also heard Ken Brown call him "Miggle Angle"

For me it was the postmatch interview with Poults and Kaymer after their game ended on Sunday.

Just watching it again get the goosebumps going.

It was about now that I knew we were going to win

:D

Has to be the Monday morning first tee banter. The European crowd were friendly towards the American players and their enthusiasm for team Europe definately gave us the leading edge going into the singles. One of my favourite chants in relation to rory mcilroy was" you've got big mac we've got little mac" absolutely lived every minute of the Ryder cup this year!

Hero. A word usually synonymous with many players throughout the history of the Ruder Cup. However on the first day there was a new band of heroes. They were an unsung crew who stood head and shoulders above anything the assembled golfing greats could muster.

In weather that at best was diabolical and at times biblical, it was the greenstaff who worked in the cold and the wet for hours at a time that made the Ryder Cup. It was their desire to present their course, their Celtic Manor, to the world that spurred them on. The support of the thronged masses helped, but it was that driven hunger to get the course playable against all the odds that stood out. And it wasn’t just once. When Sunday dawned and the rain returned they were still there doing their bit, steadfast and determined.

Monty and his own band of brothers will bask in the glow, but it was these proud workers that for me epitomised the true spirit of this unique event. They will never be named, but their diligence let the cup live over those four days.

Using an old trick of having a letter for the words "European win" ...

Exciting to the very end
Umbrellas the order of the day early on
Rory's up and down at 18
Ole ole ole - Miguel Angel's huge win
Pressure putt holed by Molinari
Even more bottle shown by G-Mac
A possible knighthood for Monty
Now to do it again in 2012

Winning back the Cup
Ian Poulter leading from the front
Next issue of Golf Monthly will tell it all!

Miguels whole persona,is really so cool, the cigars, the wine
he plays the game like it should be played, with a smile.as
regards to Poulter he just tells it like is,just brilliant

I think it was Wednesday or Thursday practice round when some of the players and caddies came out sporting like wigs, Even big Kaymer who comes across really quiet and shy joined in, that showed me how good and strong the team spirit was amongst the players there
was a real sense of togetherness which would be ideal for tne next two days of pairs everyone seemed relaxed and calm.

And for them to do it on the 1st tee would have been great for the fans in the the sense they would have felt included in the joke and had a good laugh.
