Competition eligibility

Can a Club Pro enter a club competition?
This includes assistant pros and any pro that is attached to the club.
We have pros who have a 20-card handicap enter our weekly weekday medals.
They can win only pro-shop credit like the rest of us - brilliant.
The two actual "club pros" don't enter, but it would also be great if they did. Only one of them has a handicap however, the other hasn't bothered.

Golf Rules draw no distinction between professional and amateur players. Individual clubs and events decide who can participate in their events. If the pro has a regular handicap, there is no substantive reason to prevent them playing in regular club comps and, in my experience, some do while many don't. Most clubs will limit their championship events, or events with gross trophy/prizes, to amateurs only.

It's entirely up to the Committee in charge of the competition to set the Terms of the Competition, which includes who is eligible to play. Section 5A(1) of the Official Guide covers Eligibility and includes:
- Gender
- Age Limits
- Amateur status
- Handicap limits
- Residence and Membership status
