Let me start with an apology. A number of you answered a similar thread many months ago and I've not been able to find it. Some of you also sent stuff in the post and the good news I still have those. And my point...?

I've been approached by our captain and committee to write some stuff for the website and local press. It's the usual thing, results, forthcoming fixtures any major news (Open comps, Charity Day, PGA events etc) and to basically get the name of the club out into the local area to attract potential members but also to actually let our members know what is happening and when. We're not particularly good at this.

What I'd like is examples of any e-mail or web based communications you get from your club so I can work out the best design format, how much detail other clubs provide etc and can go back to the committee and we can decide on the best way forward.

Does your club even do anything like this. To be honest we have the odd page on the members website (usually long after the event) and table notices in the 19th which again sit there for an age before getting updated. How do you know what is going on. Do you even care what the women, seniors (if you aren't one) and juniors are getting on. Would any offers from the pro shop entice you?

Any feedback you can give me would be great. Thanks a lot

On ours we have general news, captain's (men, ladies, seniors and juniors) reports on teams etc. Then we have the managers report and the greenkeepers report. Wow a lot of reports. Hope this helps.

Funny you should mention this.
I read recently in here of someone who popped out for a quick 9 and on his return found a CF van parked up testing golf balls. Apologies, forgetten the poster.
I was also wondering how clubs tell their members what's going on.
There's the usual posters in the clubhouse and so on but do your club email you with any news or info if they have your email address?

Hi Hommer if you go to our club webbsite(link at the bottom) and click on the link on the right hand side of the page this open our monthly news page

There isn't really anything sent to members directly. If its going on it's displayed in the club changing rooms. That's about it.
Poor to be honest.

We get monthly emails sent out with info on upcoming competitions, and any information from club meetings etc. there is also a members section on the website that gives a run down from the latest member comp, which is pretty cool, like a wee newspaper article.

Thanks for the help so far. Anyone else have a decent newsletter at their club?

Yep, we get emailed once a month with a newsletter of up-and-coming events, promotions and so on. There is also a member profile, where one member writes a little bit about themselves which encourages more interaction between members. We also get reports from the Greens Committee reporting on conditions of the course, plans for the future and so on. I really can't fault the information provided or the method of delivery.

ETA: - Homer, if you want me to email you an example please PM me an email address.

Our club belongs to the Foremost Golf set up. As I understand it they produce a weekly newsletter format that includes equipment and instruction advice and the club Pro just adds their bit. But the set up is part of a bigger deal with Foremost Golf.

We were getting a weekly update via Foremost through the pro but it seems to have stopped. Sand Martins (where HID works) does get one via them every week but it is down to the pro to submit it as Foremost are golf retailers. I think RA are looking for something more club orientated

We don't even have a website, that said we are a club attached to a muni. I'd love to be able to check weekend scores during the week and catch up on news, they have been talking of a site but it never happens, I think its the lack of younger members or to many older ones holding the club back, yet they wonder why membership is on the decline.

Good luck homer I am sure its only a matter of time before the big dogs snap you up.
