Commiserations this weekend - Post here if you played rubbish this weekend.

Now here's a thing.

I got 0.1 back yesterday after compiling a meagre 21 points. I don't know whether to be pleased or disappointed. I mean, I didn't actually play in the comp. In fact I wasn't anywhere near the golf club yesterday, but there I am, down near the bottom of the leaderboard. So I'm a bit miffed about the 0.1.

On the other hand, I seem to have managed 21 points from my own back garden, so I must be hitting the ball really, REALLY well to be hitting greens and fairways from here. Must have holed some huge putts, too...

Ha!

There must be at least 10 people at your club with the same name. My name is annoyingly common.

Any birdies yesterday?

Played a 9 hole father son (9 yrs old) competition, everything was going really well for first 4 holes, then over the next 5 holes I managed to put my son deep in the trees or other unplayable lies on 5 seperate occasions. The resigned look on his face by the end was heartbreaking along with the comment "next time can we invite my uncle up to partner me!"

Today I set out to defend the board comp that I won last year only to end up completely demoralised and have the worst score I have ever recorded.

Opened up by pulling the first shot OOB quickly followed by hooking the second with the same result. Worse still, 2 brand new Pro V's gone in the first 2 shots. Lost the final ball of the sleeve on the third with a shanked 52 degree wedge OOB. Decided to change to a cheaper ball and 4 stabbed the fourth from 15 feet but then lost that one on five.

Fats, thins, chunks and shanks, every shot seemed to be one of those. Ended up with 3 points on the front 9. (Should have been 4 but couldn't be bothered to tap in)

Decided to carry on for the hell of it and recovered slightly with 14 points on the back 9 but still finished a distant last.

My only excuse was that I did have physio on my shoulder 2 hours before I played but my confidence is now totally shot. :(

36 @ ganton in a qualifier am steady start odding along nicely for 8 holes then a bad bounce on edge of 9th fairway lost ball traipse back to the tee and proceed to take a 9 heads gone and 0.1 back.
PM flying start for 6 holes 4 pars a birdie and bogey then wheels well and truly fall off heads gone again! Another 0.1 back and think I need to consider NTG download! ........

first 0.1 back yesterday in the 2nd round of the club champs. Had high hopes of getting though as a score around buffer or on handicap would have got me in.... anyway nine 3 putts later and one 4 putt to really put the boot in:(

Now that really was a squeeky bum round:(

Mixed bag yesterday, played some of my best and worst golf all in one round.
Had one of those comedy bunker episodes, took 5 to get it out :fore: Sand was packed solid due to heavy rain then blazing sunshine and I just couldn't get the club under the ball to lift it out, how the heck do you play from this kind of lie?

Played our first major, greensomes. Had a different partner, someone I've played with before in a medal round. He'd just recovered from some ligament damage in his back and was his first round for a while. We played pretty well, but you could see he was a little rusty, but the way we were going at 14 we thought we were on to be at the top but then he started to fizzle out a little bit.

After a cracking drive from myself on 14, a par 5, his layup ended up 20 yards infront of us on a path (what I thought) but our partners said they've had it before and it doesn't class as a path and that we have to play it from there. I hit the shot it was 165 yard and I landed it next to the green.. We finished on par.

Towards the end you could see he was struggling, he started to thin his wedges and lost his driving ability.

Overall we finished on 36 points, club house leader was 42, a score we could have been close to I feel.

Wasn't rubbish but just never felt like I got going. Still trying to iron out my chicken wing that I noticed on video recently and some of the swings definitely reflected that.

On the other hand, when I did get it right the ball was flying beautifully. Avoided anything bigger than a 6 on my card to bring back a net level par and a birdie up the last sent me home looking forward to the next round already.

0.1 for me. :(

Great round of golf though. Hit the ball very well (mostly), great weather and good company too. Things I had been working on came together pretty well. Although not happy with 0.1 it was a thoroughly enjoyable round.

My usual strengths deserted me, I lost a few shots around the green, but the killer was 2 balls OOB. Putting not up to my usual standard either.

Close to rubbish, few too many silly shots in yesterday's medal. Just 1 shot outside the buffer zone. Ah well there's always next week!

No wonder you lost your match play putting like that . tut tut, putt putt putt putt.

Well...

I played brilliantly, hitting it sweet as a nut, had the best driving round I can remember and a load of birdie putts. However....

36 putts killed it, including 2 tiddlers for a 79 and probably .1 to show for it. Positive though, work hard on the putting this week and won't be far away

Played an open stableford at Ballycastle in Northern Ireland on Friday - hit it like an idiot on the front nine and was surprised that I had nine points going out - wee bit better on way back with 15 points - so 24 total - range today first balls I'd hit since then and was striping it - golf is a cruel mistress
