Cobra One Length

The technology now is far more then the 80's and there's more understanding on ball flight, spin rates, Launch angles etc to possibly be able to make SLCs work this time round. Just because the pros don't use them doesn't mean there's no mileage in it, but not necessarily for pros to use them but for new beginners taking up the sport. The game is complicated enough but SLCs could make it easier for them, and besides if we should do what the pros do, why are we still playing with driver shafts over an inch longer then what they do?

Like mentioned earlier, for me would make the differential with the longer woods harder to manage.

Won't knocked em till I've tried them though!!

I enjoyed them in longer shots and in that area they are good and feel lovely off the face. My issue would be trying to play something like a chip and run from 15-20 yards off a green with a 9 iron or PW, even gripping down to the end of the standard length grip. I would still feel too far away from the ball. Not sure how you get around that

.....practice??

Undoubtedly, with work I'm sure you'd see results and I think more than anything its a visual/mental thing being that much further from the ball. I guess with work, and linear method perhaps seems suited to these clubs but haven't had a chance to try that personal theory, you would find a reliable way. However if you were chipping or pitching with a conventional, connected method then I still think it's going to be harder with a longer shaft to get that arm/body connectivity. It's just my view of course and I'm sure it's something Cobra have thought of

I'd like to try them, but certainly wouldn't go out and buy a set.
Tbh I'm sick of hearing about that Bryson kid.

Oh and his putter is just stupid.

I keep thinking they should be more flexible and offer combo sets, 4-7, same length, 8 - PW/gw regular length.
Yes, I know the premise is to keep everything the same length for the same swing, but in my case I struggle with longer irons and generally hit shorter ones ok. The thought of a PW with a 7 iron shaft doesn't appeal a great deal.

Then that's just a normal set of irons being custom fit?

Get them bought already ;)

It'sOTE=snell;1649805]I can't see club designers making ONE LENGTH irons but making some of them different lengths?

But it's all you've been banging on about for 2 weeks ;)[/QUOTE]

I know schnell but it ain't my point, most players are comfortable hitting 8, 9 and pw, why then handicap them with longer "short" irons?
It's like they giveth with one hand, but take away with the other. They're trying to be TOO Bryson rather than looking at what the common or gardener golfer may prefer.

I'm sure, if you went to a good independant club fitter/builder, he could well find a solution to your requests

maybe what Cobra should do is have 5-7 the same length, and 8 upwards the standard shorter lengths?

I am actually quite interested in these as I hit my 7 best out of all my irons, and it is my "go-to" club even when I know I should really be hitting a 5 or a 6 on a par 3. I'd say i hit the 7 well 70% of the time, the 6 more like 50% and the 5 barely ever comes out the bag as i never hit it well.

Had a bang with these clubs today and imo they're awful!!

Can't put my finger on why, but not a fan at all.

Amen to that, hit them on a range so was able to see the ball flight, dispersion was good but distance was terrible.
9 iron, lovely.
5 and 4 irons, both went roughly the same distance which was the same as my normal 7 iron. Picked up Snell's 5 iron and hit it way past them first go. Got my own irons and got the same results.
I didn't hit all the set but from the clubs I've tried, 7,6,5 and 4 all go about the same distance just with higher to lower flights.
Maybe it's my swing but they're 100% not for me.

They are great clubs. I have a set and I would have to say I don't have the time to practice like the touring pros but my swing is getting more and more consistant, because I do not have to worry about other planes in my swing, pw and 4i for example. THe ball striking is great now and been working on grooving my swing, I can pick up any club and it feels the same, the only difference is that the sound and feel when striking the ball is diferent because there is more a solid and square hit with the 4i compared to the lower clubs. I've been able to work on posture, rythem. I currently swing the club at about 70% so as this is the swing I can repeat all the time withing thinking. And the point is, I don't want to think about my swing, i want to worry about playing the game and plaaying the course. This has been the best golf investment so far for me. My driver has benefited from it, because I just working on grooving my swing so when I go to swing the driver, its on point. I'm not about tradition, I about concepts and it logically makes sense to me. I believe I could win events with these clubs, but golf is not just about irons, its about the rest, so time will tell, but now I just worry about the swing, my 70%, 80% and 90% swing. I never hit the 100% because its with everything I got and I can hurt myself and very difficult to repeat. GOOD LUCK.. :D
