First of all may i apologise for having to write this thread but after reading an earlier post by CC on another thread i am quite annoyed.

Now i know that many of the forum members threads are posted to cause a reaction from high HC players like myself but this time i am biting.

Mods censored a thread title only a few days ago because it may offend a certain group in society and it was stated that it wasnt goood for the image / cred of the thread or magazine. Well i firmly believe that constant berrating of high HC players by a fellow forum member not only harms the friendly nature and wide appeal of the thread but also offends a section of our golf community. Will we see any censorship?

Maybe a private message would be better?
It's just going to end up in another spat. :(

Possibly Birdieman you might be right but for some reason i have got myself really annoyed about this. If Mods feel it would be better to delete this thread then i understand fully. However i stand by my original opinion, if this forum is aimed at a wide range of golfers then we should all feel welcome and not have to suffer posts that are aimed at putting down high HC players.

Dry your eyes mate ,its a bit of banter ,in the squad i play in ,the handicaps are mixed from 2 to 21 and alsorts of slagging goes on ,like my mate gets shots for getting out of his car or i get 2 shots on this hole its what makes this game great. :)

I happen to think the guy has a valid point. I didn't read it as banter at all. There have been stuff that I agree 100% with CC about some topics but on this occasion I think he is wrong. That isn't me looking to offend or start a thread war just a personal view that on this occasion he is totally out of touch with high handicappers playing in medals and has rather entrenched views on such participation

I agree that banter goes on and this is fine and part of an enjoyable round. However banter on the course can be defined by the tone / facial expressions of those giving the banter. On a forum this is done by a smiley face or a "lol" after the post. The posts in question gave no indication that the comments where said in jest or that they were good natured.

Neither did I Homer, hence my reply.

This fella makes scathing remarks about high HC's in many of his posts. He seems to take pleasure in winding up people the wrong way.
It may be tongue in cheek, but many of his remarks are pure vitriol aiming to create unrest.

Not everyone is a low handicapper. Personally I aspire to reach CC's miniscule shot allowance! Even if I did I'm sure I wouldn't have an ego or head as large as his though!

If it's an attempt at wit, then I'm sorry, but I don't share it!

I cant see the problem with a bit of banter between low and high handicapers. :D

I play with a guy on a sunday hes off 19 am of 1 when we have played the SI 1 on our course he turns to me and says that was a 4 for 4 points for me and your last stroke til next week. :D :D

Well as birdieman stated a pm to him would be the way to go IMO. At our club the drawn medals are low, middle and high handicap in each 3 ball to spread it out haven't had any probs with high handicappers, was once one myself.

I agree screwback this kind of banter is fine, very enjoyable but as you have indicated by the smiley face at the end of your post your partner says this in jest. No doubt you know by his facial expression that he is joking. ClubChamp i am fraid in my opinion is not doing this in jest and therefore the reason for my original post.

I think if its continuous and without any value as an opinion,or a direct insult to a individual then it can definately become annoying and deserves attention, I have experienced many an empty head comment on here, I either give as good or better than I receive or I block them so I dont have to read any of their purile rubbish, in this case though, I think your reaction is a little ott, and may even be the goal of the perpretator, or just a mistake.

However we are all human and can misunderstand comments from others, most on here are open to firm argument and banter, yet humble enough to accept a mistake has been made. There are others who are not like this, but its not worth going for it until you have addressed the person in question privately, the only time I think such comments should appear in open forum is if it is initiated and directed specifically in open forum at an individual and then should be a matter for mods.

There will always be comments about high h/c players because there are hundreds of reasons for them, and so many of them about, I think from about 19 h/c upwards accounts for about 3/4 of my clubs membership, so there are plenty to go at :D

Never in my reply did I say anything about High Handicappers. As for smilies I dont tend to use them. As many of you will know I play every Saturday with a guy off 24 he's my partner, many of you will know from past posts I have said that there are some single figure golfers I would rather not play with and would rather play with higher handicappers.
In the reply, I was meaning that why not just take it on the chin and take an N/R? Why put yourself through 120+ shots?

Screwback that type of banter on the course is priceless.

I'm waiting for a mod to delete this post so I'll leave it at that.
I have nothing against high handicppers.

From another thread CC:

"128 gross, lets say 2 practise swings on each shot = 384 bloody hell I'm glad I wasn't playing behind you.

Whats wrong with N/R's clearly if your not competeing all your doing is holding the rest up. I never heard such drivel, 5 tee shots at the 1 hole? Do you not know when your beaten. All this "well done mate" for finishing, rubbish just dosent do any good for the game. I pitty the poor guys who played with you and had to watch you. I bet their pints tasted good after that.
Next time your on the course and in a comp, think of other's and not just yourself,

Give yourself a pat on your back for comming last!"

You dont mention high handicappers specifically, but as the original thread was posted by someone playing off 26, your reply above was obviously aimed at that person, so do us all a favour and dont hide behind your own "drivel", and pretend that you don't have an issue with us less talented than yourself....trying to squirm out of your obvious dig is embarassing to you, and an insult to the rest of us on here.

Oh sorry, I suppose I should say that this is obviosly my own opinion, and not that of any other forum members.

Please also be aware that investments may go down as well as up....
